I love my 940, but it's already a very slim and narrow knife. Be interested to try this but it sounds tiny. What I really miss is the Benchmade 707. It was the same length as the 945 but had a broader blade and grip. Was really disappointed when they discontinued it, especially since I'd sold mine when I thought I'd always buy another one if I missed it.
AFAIK the handle thickness is the same, its simply shorter. I have the 945BK-1 but not the 940 so I cant compare directly, but going off specs
For some reason, this mini Osborne feels much nicer to me than the full size 940. The full size just seemed like it was too long compared to how thin the handle was. It just never felt 'right' to me like this mini was. The length to weight to slimness of the mini just feels perfect. I also appreciate the green and purple color scheme like the original 940.
I paid $150 from GP Knives, but it came with a Benchmade hat and they actually find a good one for you if you ask in the order notes.
I got a Boker Kalashnikov from Blade HQ during the Black Friday sale, asked them to send one with good centering and lockup, and they literally sent me the trashiest one they had in the entire warehouse.
Between all the cool Blade HQ employees from the youtube channel quitting because of the relocation to Virginia and the poor quality knives I've been receiving lately from them, I don't really want to shop at Blade HQ anymore.
This is a great knife with great steel. SV30 is considered a "premium steel", there are just some newer variations out there but usually also carry an even higher price tag. I owned the original 940 but I think my daughter lost it. I placed an order for this size and going to give it a try. This is the lowest price I have seen.

Idk man, my experience with them has been the opposite, every time I email them, they respond within the hour. They will swap out any knife for free, including shipping as long as there is an issue.
They relocated due to complications with Covid, they still ship some things out of there original facility, just no store front. And for the record, they don't produce knives so the "poor quality" isn't on them.
The Youtube channel is still awesome even with the new faces..
For anyone looking to buy from them I say its a hard go, probally one of the best knife dealers around.
Bought the 945 version with black g10 scales over the summer and I have to say the build and blade quality is premium but the 945 just feels like a toy. It feels way too slim and small in my hands and I'm not a big guy (stand 5'6 with shoes).
Although I have to say my hands are wide (short fingers though, made for farming and other physical intensive work). I recently purchased the mini griptilian during the focus camera deal and that feels much heftier and solid in my hands. Ended up reselling the 945 on Reddit.
To each their own though. I love everything about it except the size. Looking for the original 940 on sale. I think that'll fit my hands and expectations a bit better. For now, sticking with the mini grip for edc.
What the hell. In for one too. Didn't need it at all. Already have 5-6 ZT and Kershaw on the shelve rarely used. I'm deleting SD app now. Re-installing it after new year lol.
In terms of the blade steel, I have a Spyderco with SV30 blade that I put through hard use every single day for 8 years. Now I own 10+ knives with different, more expensive (possibly "better" steel), but that first EDC held up incredibly well and is still my favorite.

By no means is the S30V a bad steel.
