Not going to downvote you but value is very subjective. Is the $400 hair dryer 20x better than than the $20 one? Probably not. Is a Mercedes Benz 3x better than a Camry, no. Both will get you to the same place. Is a Rolex better than than a Casio 100x since both tell time? Nope, but Rolex is selling out everywhere this year.

If you don't want to spend $400, that's up to you but there are people that purchased this product and recommends it despite the price. I was also highly skeptical but I splurged for the hairdryer as a gift and my wife and daughters loves it. They think it dries their hair faster and make their hair smoother. Time saved and less trips to the salon is also a consideration since they spend $$$ there as well. Anyways, as I get older, I learned the value of, "Buy less but better quality."

Bought this for my wife about a year ago.

I now use it as much as her. Thing is amazing. If ours were to break, I would happily pay full price for another one.

This thing is in another dimension compared to the $20-$40 junk hair dryers we used to have. Is it 10x to 20x better? Maybe not, but there is nothing else like it.

I played with one in the Dyson store in downtown SF, but it seems like the air filter cover at the handle base can come off easily? Maybe it was on older gen or is this the ONLY first gen hair dryer so far?

Sure.

The flow of air that comes out of this thing is unlike any hair dryer I have ever used. I use whatever the flat blade looking attachment thing is called and even as a man with relatively short hair it dries way faster and helps part my hair and lift it up making it a lot easier to actually do something with.

On top of that, I'm sure you have used hair dryers that get way too hot to the point where you can almost smell the burning. This one does not do that. Even at the hottest setting it's just a warm extremely even concentrated force of air that makes it easier to make your hair (if you do that).

I'm a dude so can't get too much into why it's amazing because my hairstyle is pretty simple. With that said, every single person who I know that has this thing raves about it. I was obviously skeptical at first and bought it as a gift, but it's amazing.

It's one of those things that is so stupidly priced, it's easy to scoff at or make fun of. But if you can find a use for it, it's incredible.

The social media marketing plan for the Airwrap worked. Wife wanted one, ordered via Dyson on Black Friday and it just arrived. All Best Buy within 250 miles is out of stock. I'm sure there are multiple shipping containers of these things stuck somewhere. Almost easier to get a PS5, almost.
