From the prior deal last month when the device was $599, here was what was shared. I did a quick check and confirmed the Galaxy S20 trade in value was still $410. I imagine there may be some discrepancies since the iPhone 8 was $230 for me instead of $245.

The above TIV has changed drastically. For example, SE 2nd Gen is only $150 while SE 1st Gen is $165 *boggles*

After clicking the link, click the $499.99 (Activate Today) button
Click Add to Cart
Select Upgrade if you're an existing customer

You'll be greeted with the following question "Would you like to trade in a phone?"

Select "Yes, I would like to trade in a phone to Best Buy."

Fill in the 5 required areas (Brand, Model, Capacity, Color, Carrier)

Click "Get My Value"

For example. Apple, iPhone 8, 64 GB, Silver, T-Mobile. You'll see a trade in value of $230 that will be deducted from the price of purchase.

$399 offer should still be better considering you can cancel the plan same day. It's just a little extra work and worry.

It doesn't stack with the trade in promotion, otherwise yes. Trade in value for iPhone 8 at 64 GB would only be $80 for unlocked S21 vs $230 for T-Mobile S21

What device are you attempting to trade in? I noticed it is a bit weird, I tested the trade in value of a iPhone 6S at 64 GB and received a $180 quote, but 256 GB had a lower trade in value. Was really odd.

I've looked for the answer to this but what are the disadvantages of using unlocked vs T-Mobile? My simple choice plan has slower international data and unlimited texting included so will non T-Mobile phone work for this?

Tried to trade in my TMO Blue S20 FE. T-Mobile is not on the carrier list.

I have another S20 that is still on TMO EPP. This one can not be traded in without the balance becoming due. Correct?

For S20 FE select unlocked. If it isnt, just get it unlocked by tmobile. I traded mine like with those options and it went through (it was unlocked via T-Mobile already). You can also check in your T-Mobile account portal to see if the phone is eligible to be unlocked and you can do it from there (don't need to reach out to support).

Thanks. After reading your reply I realized that I unlocked it some time ago and forgot about it.
