And yes, living with in a dense urban area with multiple military bases and commercial and private airports and hospital helicopter pads means you are driving much more than 20 minutes to find somewhere to legally fly.

hospital helicopter pads have zero effect on drone flying except keep your eyes open for a collision. small airports and private airport only have restriction on the airport property and on the approaches. all around it, you can fly 50 or even 100 feet right up close; 200 feet further away. i live 1.5 miles from the runaway and i'm at 200 feet and if i go half a mile further, the grid is 400 feet. but you are right, the military expands out...quite a bit. if you are surrounded by a bunch of military bases, you're sol; sorry to hear that. 99% of america is not.

correct. if you crash your car, toyota will not pay to repair your bumper, side mirror, and fender under warranty. you need to call state farm for insurance, not warranty.

but it is a replacement for the dji warranty. but it's not a replacement for the dji care refresh (which is not a warranty but it is crash insurance). words have meaning and if you just use the terms properly and not casually, it would make more sense. dji care refresh (which is a form of insurance) will cover you for the most part in teh event of a crash and it is well worth the extra bucks. if your crash is due to a mechanical defect, the dji warranty may cover it else the allstate coverage would kick in. as you know, warranties and insurance don't replace either other. you can maintain multiple coverages and you check the "rules" to see when they kick in and to what extent...to determine your choices. i hear allstate is pretty lenient so if a propeller flies off (that you installed incorrectly) and the drone crashes, that's not a "mechanical failure" but it might be covered. however, you cannot go wrong with dji care refresh; highly recommended.

You can always turn off location and it will go wherever you want- just be warned that you'd better know where you're flying- it sounds like you do but for something like that specific place- kill location and don't let it out of sight and you ought to be okay. Just turn it back on before you get far from base and do anything crazy and lose it or something.

Can we can fly any DJI drone with location off using line of sight with no restrictions? Didn't know DJI allowed this. I am interested in the Mavic Air.

Find a copy of that agreement and you can upload it on their app. Did it and got approved i less than 24h.

No you're still responsible to know where you should and shouldn't be but it at least let's you take off. Work sent me to Virginia Beach for 6 months for some training and I couldn't fly at the beach or anything because of some navy air base thing but they said that they were okay with it up to some altitude. The drone would only do 15' so I had to turn it off. Worked great but it still would be violating FAA something-or-other to go higher.

Oh I reread it. Yeah there's no restrictions at that point. Remember your phone knows where it's at too. May have to turn it off on your phone too. I can't remember
