Its like an ipad pro (high resolution screen, great for drawing, touch screen tablet, etc) but with Windows, so you can actually accomplish stuff with it.

You can't add RAM to any Surface devices. Only the Pro X, 7+ and 8 have removable SSDs.

Not a bad deal if you are considering a Surface Go 3 instead. The SSD is removable too. It's not a SP8, but depending on your use case, it's a decent price point for Surface that includes type cover.

This has same processor (Intel 11th gen series) as Surface Pro 8. Excellent price for someone who can live with i3.

Waiting for 16GB Surface book/pro/laptop under 1k and I'll bite. Assuming you can't add RAM to this?

Gotcha - did these computers get more expensive recently? I was looking historically on Slickdeals and 16GB surfaces were under $1k many times before

There was about a $200 jump in price for the low end SP8. The consumer SP8 also only starts at i5 whereas previous models had i3 configurations. There will be an i3 SP8, but only through business channels and it won't be available until 2022.

Nope, cheaper than before. It is VERY rare that a Surface with 16GB of RAM was under $1K.

That's also the Surface Laptop vs. Surface Pro (detachable keyboard that can function as tablet). It would be hard to be using the Surface Laptop for drawing/notetaking on the screen.

True, but usually around $200 more expensive too.
The SSDs can easily be replaced so that's good.
i3 is perfect for most people who rely on general productivity at most.

Probably the pen input. It's fluid to the extent that you feel like you're writing on a paper rather than a screen, so it's best suitable for note taking.
Followed by great portability and bloatware free full fetched windows support.

Great for travel. Light weight and very responsive. I have the SP7+ i5 and love it. I had a SP3 with older i5 and only 4GB RAM and loved it. Was surprised when I went to sell it that it was only 4GB. This generation of i3 is about equivalent the version in the SP3 from what I read.
