The benefit of the originally post heat resistant blue grass mix is that the blue grass variety in it has rhizomatic traits. What this means is that it will not only grow vertically but also off shoot sideways thereby filling in patches. This gives it self-healing characteristics and also fills in nicely. Heat resistant bluegrass is a relatively new thing on the market and I haven't seen much feedback on it just yet. If it works like it says then on paper it appears fantastic for transition zone folks.
