If you have backlog, I'd just wait for it to go to the bargain bin.

A better analogy would be people waiting for a movie to reach discount theaters, but even then, a lot of discount theaters are outdated places with worse sound and projection systems, so even then you're not getting the exact theater experience. Most people are playing a game at home. The only difference is whether they are paying an extra $20-$30 to play it right away or wait a few months and save that money. The experience is pretty much the same in terms of actually playing the game.

Very different game - there's some light weapon upgrading here but that's about it. Borderlands is a full-on RPG in that manner, all sorts of builds and flashy numbers when you shoot enemies. FC games are mostly first-person Assassin's Creed games, or even GTA.
I got it on the ps5 from a buy 2- get 1 free deal from GameStop and it's definitely worth it for the PS5 if you have it, the controller enhancements are great. Love the tactile triggers.
Once it drops to $5 the experience it's going to be even better.
That's not to say that a person who enjoys going to the movies shouldn't enjoy going to the movies. But with what is available at a pretty affordable price in the at home theater, I think a lot of people are finding they'd rather just watch it at home.
You can make the "experience" argument for games too. For example, a game with a strong multiplayer element will likely have a stronger following at launch than a year later. That translates to more matches with less downtime and more enjoyment for their money (for someone who wants that). Of course there's Plenty of examples of games that were train wrecks at launch, too, especially in recent years lol.
