These one year plans are are long term relationships. Use Ting 30 day for the short ones.
Ting is $9.99 unlimited text and minutes but $5 per GB. Ehhh. So it is $120 for a year with NO DATA. You are better off getting a redpocket annual plan for like $90 with unlimited talk, text and 1GB data per month. Ting is dish wireless so I doubt the reception will be as good as redpocket where you could choose either att, t-mobile or Verizon. The t-mobile prepaid at $15 is quite good as they give 2GB data per month.

For $10 more isn't the $40 Tracfone a better deal with 3gb of data?
It depends what type of user you are. I think if you are going to use the redpocket minutes and texts, the redpocket is great for the bang for the buck. If you are a real light user with the minutes and texts, you can really stack up the data with tracfone with ROLLOVER and reward points. Tracfone has a great app. Very easy to stack up data. Even the add-on is very reasonable. I use the reward points a lot. I think redpocket is really the better bang for the buck though. Other people may not want to take advantage of the reward points system. I spun a wheel and got 1000 points a couple weeks ago. Not for everybody.

I have both redpocket and tracfone. I could use either for my dailydriver but I do lean more towards redpocket.

They don't even offer sprint anymore on ebay. Sprint is pretty much done now. On ebay, red pocket plans offer GSMA (at&t), GSMT (t-mobile) and CDMA (Verizon HD Voice).
You're right it says GSMT (t-mobile/sprint compatible). I knew RP said they aren't talking any new sprint customers but I didn't know you still couldn't get around that by buying from ebay.

Are all modern sprint phones able to work on the t-mobile network? I have the sprint branded locked samsung a50 on RP sprint towers right now. I'll need to figure somthing out when sprint 4g gets shut down.

It only says "GSMT (T-Mobile Compatible Phone" as a choice from my Android. They stopped listing the Sprint option a long time ago.... I believe you would need a GSMT eligible phone. Check if your Sprint phone is already unlocked. If not, see if it is eligible to be unlocked and get it unlocked. Call T-Mobile.

What do people use these plans for? Communicating with their mistress?
Yes.

Also, selling things on Craigslist, etc. Where you want to communicate but don't want to give people your main number

People who text less than a 1000 times, use less than 200 minutes and use less than 200mb data per month and willing to pay $30 for the year..... Not everybody needs to text over 1000 times every month or use over 200 minutes per month. People don't really use tons of minutes as most people prefer texting too.

Common sense would say "Why pay lot extra for unlimited texts and minutes if you don't need to?. If someone is a real light data user, this is a good option.

Picked this up as a backup device since it's so cheap for emergencies. I gotta say, redpocket chat support is not bad at all!

All that and more. Yes, Tracfone IS worse. They sold me an empty sim and numerous CS people said there is nothing they could do. You know you are in trouble when you hear a rooster - yes, a rooster - crowing in the background during the call!
My friends didn't believe me when I said the CS person I was talking to had his cock out, but you had the same thing happen!

What's a backup device? Why wouldn't you just use your primary phone for everything? Is there something wrong with your phone?

The oldest trick in the book: blame all your problems on your neighbor's cock!

And no AT&T network on their $2.50 plan anymore. Only available on the $5.00/month plan
