It's been always at this price. Pretty good for a burner/backup/low usage number. They used to only offer this plan on Sprint network. Now they switch to TMO after the merge. All my three kids are on this plan. Someone's 1 month service fee is enough to pay for all my kids' lines for a whole year.

I got this line for a spare phone for testing apps for work. Despite being powered off 99% of the time, this line was always out of data and I'd have to call regularly to get it fixed. RP would always fix it, but I can't recommend this plan to anyone based on my experience. I also have lines on the 5/mo plan and I should monitor those more closely to see if they are also being shorted but it's just not worth the effort.

That's strange. None of my kid's line has this problem. Their phones are on WiFi most of the time. And they never run out of data. Could it be some of your phone's background apps draining the data? 200M is not much. It could be gone in minutes if you are not careful.

Do yourself a favor and avoid Red Pocket. Terrible company. Terrible service.

No price is worth the hassle, should you have to work with their tech support. There are many other better MVNOs.

Yes, you can renew. This plan has been around ~2 years.

I also have this. I also did not encounter unexplained out of data problem. 100MB will go quick if you keep data on but I am mostly on wifi so don't care much. I mainly have more use of text messages for multi factor authentications every app forces now.

The 1% of the time that it is on can easily eat through 200MB data. With this plan, you need to make sure data saver (low data mode) is always on and/or turn off data entirely until you actually need it. Apple Maps chewed through 40MB of data on a 5-mile drive even though I wasn't using the app and low data mode was on. I disabled apple maps from using data, and no more issues after that.

Ting is $9.99 unlimited text and minutes but $5 per GB. Ehhh. So it is $120 for a year with NO DATA. You are better off getting a redpocket annual plan for like $90 with unlimited talk, text and 1GB data per month. Ting is dish wireless so I doubt the reception will be as good as redpocket where you could choose either att, t-mobile or Verizon. The t-mobile prepaid at $15 is quite good as they give 2GB data per month.
You have a link for the $90 redpock plan, I am seeing $99 in ebay

Well the honey moon is over with RP. D I V O R C E

Used to be OK-ish for the $60 yr plan for low use and practically no data. Any more and you will live to regret it.

'Oh what a deal' soon turns sour real fast; once you have any kind of a problem. And now they are causing many problems to have to call them. The help is a hit and miss nightmare. You have to call an average of two, insane answer machine, LONG hold times and longer as they put you on hold. Why because there systems are SLOW. It's a minimum of 35 minutes to hours to get any one thing done.

RP DOES NOT carry themselves well. You CAN NOT depend on what they tell you. On your first call it's one thing. The next call it's another reason and the third yet another reason why things are not working. Clueless reps. Unprofessional. Poor English. and/or poor connection.

What goes wrong. Failure to transition month to month. Failure to fall over to the LIMITED "Unlimited" SLOW speed that's on some plans. Plus they are known for cutting off customers on the insanely slow speed altogether. Whereas other providers promise they will never cut you off. With Red Pocket you will be lucky if it works with your high speed data.

We have had many phones with RP including GSM and CDMAV and they are both failing reliability.

Frankly RP must be being bought out and don't care anymore. BEware.

TF is worse.
The FreeUp is still working solid.
