Why is this model still being sold? I get that it's a functional product, but what sort of utility will it have barely 2 years from now?

When did the use begin? Have the batteries been replaced?

This seems like a good choice for a kid. Smaller, less expensive.

I have a series 2 watch that I bought the week they were released, I've been wearing it 6-7 days a week for years and it still holds a charge fine. Put it on at 6am and at 9pm when I take it off it still has over 50% battery.

I would assume that specific watch hasn't had recent updates?

The series 3 has modern updates that literally rape the battery. I got passed down one for free. 97% battery capacity and It wont last through the day.

I got the Apple watch series 3 from Walmart in black friday 2020 for 119.

I haven't installed any apps on it, so it's basically just there for reading my messages and whatever GPS crap it's doing in the background and health tracking. When I got it, it used to last maybe 3 full days on a single charge. With recent updates, it barely makes it 2.

Also, updating to newer OS versions is kind of a nightmare sometimes because it'll claim there's not enough space (try searching the web for "apple watch series 3 not enough space"). One update, I had to essentially factory reset the watch.

I'm okay with it for the price I paid, but I wouldn't drop 169 on it.
