New Unlocking Policy [tfwunlockpolicy.com]
"For Customers with Apple devices:
- TracFone will automatically unlock the device when it becomes eligible for unlocking.
- For all Apple devices activated with TracFone prior to November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked after 12 months of active TracFone service.
- For Apple devices activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked 60 days after activation in the absence of an indication of fraud."
If you upgrade to 15.2 can you check in settings to check for genuine parts.

Parts And Service History Not Showing Up
You own one of the above mentioned iPhone models but you still can't see the Parts and Service History section in Settings? This is a good thing, because it means that no repair was made on the device and all parts are still original! NOTE: THE PREVIOUS STATEMENT IS INCORRECT. THESE PHONES HAVE BEEN RECONDITIONED BY A 3RD PARTY WHICH DOES NOT REGISTER THE SERVICE IN THE SAME WAY THAT APPLE DOES. THIS HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY USER PCHUNG6 WITH A FAULTY AFTERMARKET SCREEN. APPLE DID NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THIS.
Fact: The service history only appears if one or more parts have been replaced. However, the lack of a service history does not exclude the possibility that parts have been replaced with cloned identifiers. See Pchung6's posts for an example of a replaced part that did not show up.

On the other question being prominent in this thread - the unlock policy and if it 12 months or 60 days
Here is the update and I checked with couple of customer care representative just to be sure and this is what I was told
" the device activation date when you receive it and the service activated is considered the date of activation" and needs to remain as an active service for 60 days to be unlocked
Pls. Note the service has to active for 60 days but I have heard conflicting views from a telephone rep and chat rep they all did confirm it's 60 days and not 12 months but one said 60 days of active service and other said automatically 60 days. Those who might still be thinking you can reach totalwireless on a chat and confirm with them for your reference as well

I told my friend about this deal.
He purchased 2 of them and activated the lines. But, I soft unlocked both with rsim and he is using tmobile on them.
I am afraid to test them out to see if they unlock after the 60 days.

I don't really want to do the rsim again since it might get blocked by then.
I would test on my personal rsim lines but I want these xr's to unlock already Lol
Also have another scenario...
I bought a new total wireless XR for an uncle of mine. I did NOT activate the line/sim that it came with. I did the rsim trick as soon as I turned that phone on.
I'm wondering if I can activate the SIM card online and maybe it starts the timer.
I activated an iPhone SE 2nd gen this way but I traded it in to Best Buy before I could test out the scenario if it would unlock without inserting the chip in the phone.
Note: The TW SIM will need to be in it.
Will check back and hope it works out tomorrow. 🤞

As far as activating the phone, I've heard that it's not complete without actually inserting the SIM, but haven't tried it personally.

I will do that with my friends XR

I just tried calling, first CSR says device is not eligible because it is not yet active for 12 months, they wanted $275 to unlock today. Second CSR also mentioned the $275 fee, but said 60 days of active service instead of 12 months. Both times required me to provide a verification code for my account. I wonder if there's a magic sequence for some CSRs that doesn't require verification, as the previous poster mentioned.
Equipment>Device Unlocking.
They will contact Tracfone/TW and investigate. Most likely, someone from TF/TW will contact you to ensure the unlock happens.

my sim card was activated on Jan 14, but this sim was switched to another XR which was activated in Dec 27th.
I text unlock to 611611, got message "Great news! Your device will be automatically unlocked on 03-16-2022".
I think the unlock timing is tied to the activation of the sim card ICCID.
I tried another sim card, still same message same date
tried a third sim card who's number has been ported out, can not send message to 611611, guess need a non-ported sim card
