Yes i have one and im debating wether to cancel one of the tcl s and getting another one of these , by the way i own a tcl already as well but i prefer the fire operating system than the roku so far, alexa is a plus and offers more compatibility with other apps than roku for example im unable to send a facebook video to the roku ,I can only send YouTube videos

I have the same question, I was given a TLC 55" with Android as a comparable tv since the FireTV I ordered couldn't be found.

Picture quality wise, no. I wouldn't rely fully on any tv's built in apps/system either. Optimally you keep a separate stick incase a new version comes out that will get firmware updates. Once these tvs are sold to you, nobody cares to update bottom of the barrel hardware. Having said that the TCL deal ship has sailed, so this is a reasonable deal given the options.

We bought three of these three years ago. The second just died. The third is still going. I'm sure not for much longer.

This was always my gripe with Smart TVs...eventually like phones, they don't get the necessary updates and then cannot run the apps. I'm breaking my rules here.

This is true but there isn't much alternative. It's not like you pay $299 for the smart version and $249 for the regular one. Pretty much all big brand budget 50/55" tvs just come with smart programming and the ones that don't are the sceptres and rca's that don't make sense to pay only a few bucks less for.

I would stick with that, Roku is really intuitive and it has stayed pretty useable on my family's handful of TCL Rokus over the years. Roku is nice because it guarantees a certain standard of UX that can be very hit or miss otherwise in budget tvs.
