If you're interested in 3d printing, check out the streams Comgrow do on Facebook. They gave away free filament spools in the stream they did at the beginning of December to the viewers. Like literally everyone won a spool.

This code is $30 off, bringing the cnc WITH laser to $269, not as the slickdeals states as $229, which is the cnc only. Which is not a very good deal.

Tech specs say 1.8 inch working material height, so I'd guess not.

Why dont these have a open bottom to adjust the item to the level for the engraving vs having a fixed shallow bottom. Maybe some folks modify this to work

Is this as sensitive and obnoxious as a 3d printer? I hate the filament printers but I love my resin one. Or is it more akin to something like a cricut vinyl cutter machine?

Is this one of the machines that can cut fiber board to make modular shelving?

very interesting, been thinking about one of these but I thought they were around $2000 or something.

how hard are these to use?

what difference does the laser make? or does the laser burn as well?

laser just to make the machine dual purpose, mostly for engraving wood or anodized aluminum. they also sell a separate laser machine with a bigger work area

I see tons of ads for lasers for things like these. Are they all a standard size or something where I can buy cheap and install an expensive powerful laser?

there's a LOT of falser advertising regarding lasers. most of them advertise 40w but that's really the input power they send to their really inefficient laser that ends up outputting about 5 to 5.5w of optical power. The comgrow Z1 laser is basically the strongest on the market in terms of a diode laser. It will engrave almost anything with the right settings and material prep. Cutting it does a really good job on too. If you want to cut like thick acrylic or something that's the next step up which is a co2 powered laser. (big and expensive) can be thousands of $$$. Id recommend the z1 as far value. (their 5w is equal to 40w, 10w to around 65w of competitors)

Would this be able to handle engraving a small logo on a pen? Not with laser, I want it etched into the material. And also, can it handle precision work?
