Don't forget to update the Keyboard to Backlit Keyboard for free, under the configuration section.
Also, make sure you at least do the $15 upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6 Card. Even that Realtek one will be far superior to the crappy Wi-Fi 5 1x1 antenna.

It's cheaper if you have EPP. Shows $457.5 (instead of $499) for me

These are actually pretty good specs for a decent price. I didn't try to replicate it, but seems good. Try putting specs in your title like "i5, 512GB SSD, 16GB, IPS", etc, and you might get more hits

It depends if you want a glossy (brightview) or anti-glare screen. And if the 300 vs 250 nits is worth the premium. And finally, if touch screen is important.
What's the difference between the regular screen and the WLED screen that's $20 more?

15.6" diagonal, FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, 250 nits Included in price
15.6" diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit, 250 nits +$20.00

It's AC included.
Most specs are customizable.
Add $15 for WiFi 6 2x2 or $20 for Intel WiFi 6 2x2.

Is HP really as slow on shipping as many are saying? I needed something in a week or so.

What does the expected shipping date says? plus/minus 1 week. In my case it was shipped 2 days before the expected date from China. Delivered 5 days later.

You are not likely to get it delivered next week. The assembly/inspection process takes more than 1 week.

Compensates for the slower SATA drive. Basically a buffer for the SSD. I'd personally avoid and get the NVME drive but in the real-world it wouldn't be very noticeable.
The Optane drive is also NVME.
Intel is the only maker of "Optane" SSDs and both the H10 and H20 are NVME only.

In regards to if it is it the H10 vs H20 Intel Drive see...
https://www.tomshardware.com/revi...,6094.html

or here....

https://www.storagereview.com/rev...h20-review

In short, yes it would most likely be an upgrade over an entry level NVME SSD.

The Intel Optane drive is a QLC Drive, which is much slower than TLC.
Good like finding a pure TLC drive these days....especially standard in an entry level laptop.

So can safely assume the non-optane will be QLC as well.
The question is if the QLC drive has DRAM or a large SLC cache..

We "KNOW" the Optane drive has a large cache in front for the main QLC drive.

It is really a no-brainer upgrade option for most folks.

HP custom orders are assembled and shipped from China. I ordered one in Nov. Took 4 wks to arv. HP says 2-3 days express shipping but the assembly took 3 wks and Fedex took 1 wk!! Fedex intl priority is a joke. And unfortunately, my laptop arrived dented with a big hole in the box as HP only ships with a laptop box and no outer packaging. Called CS and was told it'd take another 5-6 wks for replacement, so returned it for refund. They wont cross ship and needs to receive the return first.

I had it in my cart, realized I botched something, and had to re-add it. Just my luck that the price increased $20 between when I originally added it to my cart 30 minutes ago, and when I removed it to re-add. F-U-H-P.

Keep checking for price change. In the other HP 15.6 deal, price increased and then decreased below original deal. GL! EPP price fluctuated too.
