Don't forget to update the Keyboard to Backlit Keyboard for free, under the configuration section.
Also, make sure you at least do the $15 upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6 Card. Even that Realtek one will be far superior to the crappy Wi-Fi 5 1x1 antenna.

It's cheaper if you have EPP. Shows $457.5 (instead of $499) for me

These are actually pretty good specs for a decent price. I didn't try to replicate it, but seems good. Try putting specs in your title like "i5, 512GB SSD, 16GB, IPS", etc, and you might get more hits

I would be more happy if this price was included with screen touch feature. I can't find this is deal on BF for $450 something from bestbuy. I can't find that link or thread.

Keep checking for price change. In the other HP 15.6 deal, price increased and then decreased below original deal. GL! EPP price fluctuated too.
What is EPP?

Trying to decide between the i5 or this Ryzen 5.. The Ryzen 5 is a little bit more, but if it's better, I'll get that instead. Thoughts?

This was exactly the deal I was looking for in terms of specs - thanks OP!

Thanks also to the poster who mentioned the EPP (which I had to google at the time - it's their Employee Purchase Program). If you work for a big organization (for example the government) it might be worth calling and checking if you qualify. I did through my work and the discount applied to the base price as well as all the options I added, making this the perfect deal for me after looking for the right deal for a few weeks.

(Well, perfect except the wait time for delivery...but in my case that isn't a problem Smilie )

Is HP really as slow on shipping as many are saying? I needed something in a week or so.
I bought a custom HP on Nov 30th, set to ship 1/13. I've got notifications that it will be here next week. 🎉

I believe my company may qualify for EPP, but it will take forever for me to find the company code. Do they always have deals like this?

What's the difference between the regular screen and the WLED screen that's $20 more?

15.6" diagonal, FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, 250 nits Included in price
15.6" diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit, 250 nits +$20.00
Jury is out if WLED makes a difference, but for $20 I would go for it.

Bought two HP pavillions last year for Christmas. Still work very well. Those were Ryzen 7s. In for one more for my wife's birthday. Decent computer. I went with the bluetooth 5 and wifi6 tho.

Thanks

ID.me discount also applies, same price as EPP.

Thanks OP, ordered earlier before the price went up.

Thanks OP! I just bought one up for my dad with the ssd w/ optane, intel6 wifi, touch screen, and backlit keyboard upgrades. Total came out to $611 in CA with EPP discount.

I'm still using an HP laptop from 2016 that's about to kick the bucket. It was a good workhorse but the laptop is warped and the wifi shorted out a long time ago.

I'm looking for a cheapish laptop for use in bed or when I'm away from home for mainly light gaming (emulation, visual novels, and stuff like Hades, Persona, platformers etc.) and programming projects using IDEs. I might also want to infrequently use some image and video editing software. Would this be suitable for me? I'm a student so I'm can get an extra discount.

I already have a desktop for more heavy stuff so this would just be for convenience. I looked into the HP Victus deal which seems better for gaming but I don't know if I want to spend that much. The storage and ram seems low on that as well.

I just saw that the graphics card can be upgraded on this laptop. My initial upgrades would bring it to ~$475 and the graphics update to $712..
