i use online diy passport photos for last 20 years for my kids. never a rejection
Passport Card is just for those very few who don't want to bring their passport for domestic travel, and don't want to bother getting a real id from the state.

Why would going by the form make sense? You can send it in 1 year if you wanted to? That would mean you can do it today (12/26)... Postmark doesn't make that much sense either BC you would need to check manually.
It's simply inflation.
Many gov workers (paid with your income tax) getting raises. Raises cost money. Taxes will go up too. you're income probably won't go up since businesses are hurting from price hikes everywhere unless you're in an impacted segment
I don't know how they are going to check every postmark as there are only two locations for processing them.
