Please don't do that for a variety of reasons, see below.

Measure how long you will need and buy one of the correct length. Here's a 15' for $12.97, seems to be highly rated:

Or many options for less if you don't need the slimline plug and/or 3-wire.

A couple more reasons I can think of:

You will have an awkward blob at the interconnection especially with this style plug.

With two multi-tap outlets chained together you are increasing the number of places someone can plug something in and thus increasing the chance the cord will be overloaded.

Can I connect two to make a 16 ft extension or is that generally not recommended?

Extension cords are designed to carry a certain amount of current over a fixed distance (length of the cord). Daisy chaining cords (plugging cords together) increases this distance and thus increases the extension cord's resistance.

Without getting into the mathematics and physics of it, essentially this results in greater heating of the cord and possible damage to the insulation – this may be associated with a risk of fire and electrical shock (commonly known as I2R or Joule heating).

Secondly, you have the chances of the interconnection of plugs coming loose or pulling apart, resulting in a loss of power.

Thirdly, there is less current available to operate the load (although this is marginal and negligible). A fault furthest away from the source, in a daisy-chained arrangement, may result in the breaker failing to trip.

Finally, if the interconnection comes loose gradually, it could likely create a spark. That is, once again, a risk of fire (just through a different failure mechanism).
A couple more reasons I can think of:

You will have an awkward blob at the interconnection especially with this style plug.

Sure you can. This is just a 16 gauge cord. You can buy a 50' 16 gauge cord so 2 8 footers is no big deal. The plug will cause little to no voltage loss. Plug 5 of them together if you want. Only thing to watch is the total load, but that's no different than if you buy a 16 gauge 50 footer.

Walmart has a 2 prong 6' for $3.47. Shipping won't be prime, but you can pickup.

I love all these electric experts on here. Why do people comment when they have no idea what they are talking about?
