Every jack stand is great until there's a recall due to product failure. Moral of the story, make sure to put some other things underneath so it doesn't completely collapse on you.

A wheel underneath gives you a chance. I also leave my hydraulic jack barely locked into the jack point just incase.

Rest it on the stands but leave the jack barely touching. Nice insurance to have.

Ahhhh man this thread reminds me of the importance of car jack safety. Not everyone knows it takes for granted their equipment. Just had a family friend pass away this past week. Him and his son were working on a car on gravel. Jack shifted and car fell on the father. Absolutely terrible situation especially around the holidays. Stay safe and educate your loved ones on how to do it correctly.

I agree. Jack stands without a solid footing on gravel is an accident waiting to happen. Sorry for your loss 😕

I got the 3.5 tons from this brand. not sure if it's better than this one, in built quality. Just about $17 more

I paid around $30 a little over a year ago for these. They are solid jack stands and I recommend them. I replaced my old harbor freight ones that were recalled. Be smart, always put a tire underneath at the minimum. I'll even keep my jack under still after the jack stands have the weight supported as a secondary safety. You can never be too cautious when under a vehicle.
