I bought it, tried it, returned it.

You either gotta sweep before you mop, or vacuum before you spray the solution. Seems simple, but just to much for a swiffer.

FWIW: I do not have this, but have a Shark Steam mop with washable pads. We use it on the laminate floors (which are very shiny, as though freshly waxed, not a satin finish), and on tile. It doesn't clean the grout much, but it's great on those other surfaces. It just costs a little distilled water to operate and a bit of electricity.

It was recommended to us, and we recommend it to you. I don't think we'd be interested in the vac/mop with disposable pads. It sounds like a poor compromise that needs supplies that have to be replenished. We have a Shark Lift-away vacuum which works incredibly well. I got that refurbished, and paid about $55 all-in (thanks to SD).

For those wondering, the purpose of this product is primarily for people with tile flooring. You're supposed to sweep or robot vac beforehand. Then, you use this vacmop to mop the floor.

The idea behind the product is that when mopping or using wet swiffer on tile flooring, all of the cleaning liquid mixed with the dirt just sinks into the tile grout, giving tile grout the filthy grid appearance. So what you do is use this vacmop to not only suck up the filthy liquid off the floor, but mop at the same time. This vacmop is a preventative so you don't need to deal with dirty tile grout as much (or maybe even at all).

If you've ever had professional tile grout cleaning, you may notice this is effectively the process they use.

Even so using a steam mop would take forever to disinfect the floor

For steam to kill harmful bacteria it must be applied to one spot for a certain period of time based on the temperature of the steam. Most product manuals will tell you how long that amount of time is – usually 8-20 seconds. To use the mop to sanitize will require that you mop much more slowly than normal and some steam mops won't do it in any amount of reasonable time because they don't reach the right temperature.

The prob lem with the steam mop is that it doesnt have internal water like the Crosswave to give you a cleaner pad as you use it. With the Steam mop designs, you get the rotating heads, but the dirt picked up soils the pads real quick and now you are simply pushing the same dirt in different places. Unless you are doing small areas, it is a bit useless. But I can see it useful for maybe a 10x10 area or so. After that you need to swap pads and continue.

As far as steam sanitizing, as soon as 135F hits an area, any viruses in contact are dead. I would say a few seconds is enough. Specially if you are using a cleaning fluid like vinegar or some disinfectant. I am talking about daily use build up of some drips of liquids, or foot traffic from outside, etc. not a mess you spill or such, which I think they consider in their tests.

Bought and returned. The ergonomics are terrible. The bottom half is much heavier than the top half, requiring excessive force to scrub and glide this thing along the floor.
