I would be interested if Instacart didn't markup products in addition to their fee.

I love grocery delivery. It's a bit more expensive than going out to the store but I'll pay to skip the crappy experience of grocery store shopping. The part I dislike is when they get me way too little or too much of something or crappy looking meat or veggies. Instacart does make it easy to get refunded for a problem, but they don't actually send the shopper back to make it right. I've ordered again just to get the one thing they messed up that I needed. Still worth the trade offs for me.

I assume this is valid for existing memberships?

I value my time and safety so yeah I use Instacart all the time. Who the hell likes grocery shopping anyway? And you can write notes on each item you want to clarify exactly what you want, replace out of stock items with something else, chat with the shopper to make modifications or provide clarification, and get refunded if they screw up. Only thing I don't like is the tipping aspect, it's not a proper business model if they are requiring their members to make up for the low wages they get paid. I should be getting paid for singing their praises but I'm not, I just really hate grocery shopping especially in the covid era. Unfortunately makes social/economic inequality a little more pronounced, by distinguishing the shoppers from the shopped for, but what can you do (besides add to the tip).

A couple of stores actually don't have markups including sprouts, sams club and dollar tree.

Well worth it if the store is like 25 min away. Save so much time and gas.
Does this code expire? I wanna until I exhaust all trial options.

Just fyi... I had an offer in my app for free express membership until April if you use your eligible chase card. YMMV

Not a fan of the tip either but I do like they starting allowing the tip to be paid by the credit balance. I stock up on Instacart GCs when they're discounted and combine with coupons if available.

They pay the shoppers like $6 or $7 dollars per customer. There is no way anyone would go back to a store for that kind of money. I don't think that even factors in gas or anything like that. It's not even minimum wage without tips. It's crazy how exploitative both Instacart and Instacart customers are of the shoppers. I've looked into this just out of curiosity and it's wild. You ought to just pay an individual you know $25 to $50 per shopping trip. Chances are you will spend way less money than you would buying through instacart and that person would actually have enough pay to make sure everything is correct and to your liking.

I do almost all my costco shopping through Instacart and Costco.com. I took a trip to Costco in person and compared the prices of goods in person to the marked up prices on Instacart. The Instacart prices were almost all marked up within a very tight band of 9.25% to 9.5%, which seemed okay to me. A friend told me that Costco markups for Instacart are particularly consistent and on the lower end compared to other stores, perhaps due to Costco doing hardball negotiations with Instacart. Anyways thanks for the deal, I'm a big fan of the service Smilie

It's a free world. The shoppers could just quit and make Instacart bankrupt. Who's going to pay $25 + instacart overhead to buy some groceries?
