I would be interested if Instacart didn't markup products in addition to their fee.

Agree. Even with big discount coupon offers, there prices are still to high.

I love grocery delivery. It's a bit more expensive than going out to the store but I'll pay to skip the crappy experience of grocery store shopping. The part I dislike is when they get me way too little or too much of something or crappy looking meat or veggies. Instacart does make it easy to get refunded for a problem, but they don't actually send the shopper back to make it right. I've ordered again just to get the one thing they messed up that I needed. Still worth the trade offs for me.

If you buy this, I assume you can use it at ALL stores? Is there a time limit for activating & can I add it to a one-month subscription? TIA!

And this is the problem with all of it in a nutshell...Instacart, Doordash, Uber, Lyft...whatever. It is not a sustainable model or way for drivers/shoppers, etc. to make an actual living. And yet they continue to exist because there has been, so far, an endless supply of replacement people to take the place of those who come to this realization on their own.

It's absolutely a free world and precisely my point. Just pay someone directly and avoid the ridiculous overhead of instacart. That way you are actually paying someone a decent wage and getting better service to boot. Uber, Lyft, Doordash, Grubhub and all those other contractor companies aren't great but the grocery ones are by far the worst from what I've researched. Just somewhat playing the devil's advocate as well, who's going to spend an hour or so, if not more, shopping for your groceries, drive them to you with their car, so gas, depreciation, and wear and tear have to be factored in, for like $10. I did a small comparison a while ago for Publix on instacart vs just buying stuff in store. The total in the store was $62. The total instacart was charging was 108 dollars after all fees. I thought that was crazy because there was only one B1G1 item in the order so almost all of that markup wasn't even because of sales on individual items(publix does a ton of bogos).

They pay the shoppers like $6 or $7 dollars per customer. There is no way anyone would go back to a store for that kind of money. I don't think that even factors in gas or anything like that. It's not even minimum wage without tips. It's crazy how exploitative both Instacart and Instacart customers are of the shoppers. I've looked into this just out of curiosity and it's wild. You ought to just pay an individual you know $25 to $50 per shopping trip. Chances are you will spend way less money than you would buying through instacart and that person would actually have enough pay to make sure everything is correct and to your liking.
Instacart marks up each and every ALDI item in my area. Was gonna make instacart order from ALDI, then compared prices with Walmart (grocery only) - due to marked up prices they are the same, some even higher than Walmart!
Whatever Instacard pays shoppers is purely Instacart problem.

Not my job to determine if they treat their workers ok. I tip them well.
Funny that you people who order from amazon and foreign goods made there specifically so they can abuse their labor force are up on a high horse over gig shoppers. Get over yourselves.

Well, there obviously are people doing it, else Instacart would've increased their pay or gone out of biz.
I don't know where to hire shoppers directly, any site for that?

These guys just royally hosed me. I am seeing red, so angry.

I had the Chase Promo until April 2022. Added this Costco code till April 2023. Cancelled, to avoid being billed again. It said I can continue to use it through my expiration. All of a sudden my entire Express Membership is gone. I lost the balance of the Chase promo and the balance of the Costco membership. They are no help at all in their customer support.
