Love pecan, it's IMO the best of everything — almost as mellow as apple, less harsh and smoky than hickory. If I could only smoke all meats with one chip, this would be it.

I did the same thing. Just buy more and reduce your average cost. These last forever and are the best all purpose smoking wood.

One of my local Walmarts stored these outside in the garden department over winter,, and when they brought them back in the next spring, most of the pecan and apple had mold on them. Good thing about Amazon, these more than likely are stored indoors. Keep these in a dry area or take them out of the bag if left outside.

these are chips afaik and not chunks and chips burn up too fast for smoking really. chunks are what you want.

I have never had this issue. Just purchased at my Walmart for $1.97 to smoke a Turkey for xmas
