These are lovely sounding, though you will want to have an amp on these. Great deal.

Just a heads up if you have a big head these have very tight clamping force. You get used to it/they will break in but it takes some time

I have Philips Fidelio X2HR. I would prefer smooth sound less treble. Do you recommend 6XX over 600? I'm bit confused..need a confirmation..
If you like smooth and less treble, the 6xx's should be right up your alley.

If you are like me and wanna ask what's the difference between the 6xx and the HD 58x. The 58x has been described as more warm and bassy while the 6xx has a more wider sound stage.
I think both have a very narrow soundstage and just as you mentioned, 58x is warmer bassier , whereas the 6xx is more detailed with better mids.

The 600 is less warm than the 6xx and sounds a tad more detailed. But as a result, it also sounds less "smooth". Source: me, I own both. I like the 6xx better, but I tend to gravitate to a smoother warmer sounding pair over cans that boost treble to sound more detailed (i.e. I stay away from all beyerdynamics treble cannons)
thing about beyers is they manifest very differently with different pads. I have the DT 1990 pros with the dekoni velours and they are excellent. I didnt like them at first with the stock balanced pads. sold my 6xx, 650, and pc37x. I wish Beyer would do ...something about that, they are such good headphones but with some "interesting" choices as far as earpads.

Went from X2HR to the Sundaras and never touched my X2HRs again... this was 2 years ago.
Which Sundaras model if you don't mind me asking?

Are these worth getting if I already have something like the PC38X? Not a huge audiophile or collector of headphones, I just like to have a reason for each set I own (PC38X I got for gaming/general PC use)

How do you like pc38x for gaming? I'm waiting for mine to get delivered any day now. I heard 6XX was trash for gaming.

No offense but I got to say: the X2HR was the pair that sounded the dullest from all I had...Returned them the next day.
The X3 is more bright and better soundstage. The bass is less than X2HR but still present. Pretty balanced and people knock it for not being V-Shaped, despite the better controlled bass. To each their own!

Bought these at $220 and would buy again at that price. Very easy to listen to and pleasant. It's in rotation more than my Grado SR80i and HiFiMan 400 by quite a bit because of the easy listening and comfort

It's really solid. Good mic and sound. I went back to my old Logitech headset for a day and it sounded so muddy in comparison.

The only two issues I have are
1) the open back design is nice but means you need a quiet place to game if you're playing something where sound is important (ie multiplayer shooters)
2) I have to use the combo mic/audio cable instead of the split cable it comes with on my desktop and the cable is far too short to the point where I can't lean back in my chair. The split cable is twice the length.

The 6xx are not preferred for gaming due to the narrow soundstage and lack of bass . they are very accurate and have a very intimate sound signature with a focus on vocals which is great for certain music genre as well maybe some dialogue heavy single player games? but generally your PC38x would do a much better job.
I can say that my DT1990 pro are better than my old PC38x for gaming but thats a $500 headphone. I hear the HD800s are also above all else in terms of gaming but they are a $1k+ pair. There is no good upgrade path from the PC38x without dropping some mad amounts of cash. there are some very good alternatives like the Beyerdynamic TYGR 300r or perhaps the sennheiser HD560s . Ive tried them both and its hard to pick an overall winner but they do have different sound signatures and you may prefer one over the others.

HD560S is also on sale right now. HD6xx have a better build quality and are a likely a better reference for a starter audiophile for music. Most reviewers and audiophiles that game tend to prefer the HD560S for gaming due to better positional audio and front sound stage. The HD6xx are sometimes criticized for having front "blob" sound zones (Left, Center, Right) rather than a smooth transition across the front.
