I have 4 of these drives running in the third volume in my Synology NAS right now. No issue except that the transfer is half slower than my second volume with five Exos 16 drives. I can get about 360 Mbps with the Exos volume but only about 180 Mbps with the EDGZ volume.

I have yet to meet a WD drive that was NOT shuckable. Some need the 3rd pin mod to make them work.

Price will drop with 18TB HDD when 20TB is out
The 12 and 14TB did not drop in price when the 18TB came out.

This, seems like people with little experience are saying these are not shuckable

From previous discussion, nobody knows the drive inside .Expect it to be a non-shuckable 5400 RPM drive, so you don't get your hopes up.

edit: someone posted the drive type and said it can be shucked:

Only way these are not shuckable is if the person is shucking it wrong.

Expect it to be shuckable.

Some routers have the capability to mount these as a network share, or you could just share the volume on a computer that just stays on all the time. If you have a desktop computer it's easier to just shuck it and put it inside. Don't forget backup!

You'll need some software or firewall work (or both) to access it over the internet. There are plenty of options.

Prices on these keep dropping as Chia prices fall (they've never gone up and may be about to be destroyed by MadMax).

You can actually get similar used ones pretty cheap if you look on FB marketplace or similar local sites. As people quit Chia, they're looking to recoup something from their overpriced drives, but selling a petabyte from your basement, you're willing to take a loss.

Not this version, this just an external storage unit you plug to your pc. They have the 'my cloud' series for your purpose.
