I could use this but I have trouble supporting this business

  • In October 2007, it was announced that B&H Photo agreed to pay US$4.3 million to settle allegations that it discriminated against Hispanic workers, while not admitting any wrongdoing.[17]
  • In November 2009, a lawsuit against B&H Photo alleged that the store refused to hire women, in violation of New York City and New York State Human Rights Laws.[18] The lawsuit, brought by four women, sought class action status on behalf of all women discriminated against by B&H over the course of many years.[19] Given B&H's prior alleged discriminatory practices,[17] the lawsuit sought US$19 million in compensatory and punitive damages to deter future discriminatory practices.[20] In 2011, a lawsuit alleged discrimination against Hispanic workers.[21][22]
  • In February 2016, the United States Department of Labor Office of Contract Compliance filed a lawsuit against B&H alleging that the company had only hired Hispanic men into entry-level jobs in a Brooklyn warehouse, and then subjected them to harassment and unsanitary conditions.[23] On August 16, 2017, the company announced that it had settled this matter for a reported $3.22 million, while not admitting any wrongdoing.[24]
  • In November 2019, According to The Verge, the Attorney General of New York state filed a lawsuit alleging that B&H knowingly failed to pay millions of dollars in sales taxes due in New York.[25] The company's spokesperson has said that "B&H has done nothing wrong and it is outrageous".[25] According to B&H, the Attorney General is alleging that customers should pay sales tax on pre-discounted prices, not on the actual selling price, which is the widespread industry practice.[26]

p.s defin not getting my business- i'd be willing to pay extra $20 and buy it elsewhere.

Someone got this batch need to check the controller type:

"Essentially, newer 970 EVO Plus releases come equipped with the same Elpis controller as the 980 PRO SSD instead of the PCIe Gen 3.0 Phoenix controller."
Just got mine.

"3-Bit MLC"
What a funny word.
It's TLC then.

But still better than garbage QLC.
MLC = Multi-Level Cells. While the industry does typically use mlc to refer to two-level cells, it technically means anything beyond slc.

QLC used as SLC is perfectly fine. It all depends on the situation.

Are any Phoenix versions left? I figured they would've gone off shelves a long while ago, along with the 2TB version of this drive.

I'm not a fan of the Elpis controller work pcie3 after the dram or slc buffer.

Can these be returned at BB if they have a lot of hours? Also, do they have the Samsung warranty or is that void?

Yes. I was planning to return if there was a lot of usage on it. Luckily, it's barely used.. Pretty much the same from most people that bought the BB refurbished ones. And so far I haven't seen anyone getting it with the new controllers.

With Samsung waranty, it's a YMMV situation........ They techincally don't cover refurbished supposedly. But nothing's stopping you from registering the drive/serial on the site.

Seems like all the new ones are with the new Elpis controllers. That's why I went with the BB refurbished deal. I got a refurbished one with old phoenix controller with only 7 hours usage and 100GB r/w on it.

Why is elpis controller bad? I thought you would want that as it's the same in 980 Pro no?

like why you prefer Phoenix over elpis?

For PCIE 3, once the SLC cache is full, the Elpis controller slows down significantly (granted we're talking 3500 -> 1700, so still well beyond the average person's use case.

The original Phoenix controller maintained speed no matter how much space was left (for all intents and purposes).

How the F am I trolling when I linked you articles, one of which is from the Jerusalem post. GTFo with that bs. Just say you work for B & H. How many lawsuits before you're allowed to criticize a company? or does that make me anti-Semite for questioning a Jewish run company with bad business practices?

You make no argument, just like your old post which got deleted. You are the naive one here. Take the blindfolds off and instead of worrying about saving a buck, think about how you are supporting a business that has over the years, repeatedly discriminated against non-jewish workers
Quote :
The popular retailer has been sued twice by the federal government for discriminatory practices, most recently in 2016 when the Department of Labor accused it of only hiring Hispanic men for entry-level positions at its former Brooklyn Navy warehouse, and then subjecting them to harassment and unsanitary conditions, including inoperable bathrooms that were separate from those used by the facility's non-Hispanic workers. The complaint also accused the company of not hiring women, black and Asian workers at the Brooklyn facility, which has since been moved to New Jersey.

The main difference is the SLC cache and the speed after it is filled. The new version is actually better for most people since the SLC cache was increased from 42gb to 115gb. The problem begins when the SLC cache is filled, the new version write speeds drop to 800MB/s where the old one dropped to 1700MB/s. You don't have to worry unless you plan on writing 150+ gigs of data constantly.
