Save your money. Tried this over a professionally installed/monitored system (wanted to see if I could save a few bucks), and I had a huge termite infestation the following spring. Clearly was not worth the price of admission.

FYI, I did have a professionally installed/monitored system prior to this and never had issues with it. Not quite sure what they used in their traps, but it worked well. These ones are also prone to getting water in them and giving "false positives".

The vast majority of the US CAN have problems with termites with the most likely places being areas where it doesn't get truly cold often (California, and the eastern part of Texas on East in the south are the most likely areas for termites) the upper Northeast is too cold but most of New York on South there's a slight (to moderate as you go further south) chance of termites.

Same here. I've owned 2 places in CT and neither suggested termite control whereas our new place were buying has termite control in place which is why this thread caught my eye. It's still in CT and probably only 20 miles away from our current place (further inland). It DOES have wood clapboard, but otherwise regular construction. I'm always a fan of not having to rely on more services or vendors to do things when I am perfectly fine doing them.
