Decent deal on these very useful brackets - they're $7.70 each, you get 8 for $20 in this pack. Same kit is $30.91 at Home Depot, or currently $41.41 on Amazon.

They do make a 4x4 corner version which I used to make my reloading bench. I've built a couple of benches with these and they are sturdy and easy to assemble.
HD sells these blocks for gardening, just cut some 2x6s and lay them in. You don't even need screws. You can even ask the associate in HD to cut the lumber for you and take them home in your Mini-cooper.

The hard part is to figure out how to stop the critters from eating all your plants. For my garden bed, I had to build a big enclosure with chicken wire on all sides (even the top). Some people will point out that chemicals from pressure-treated lumber are bad for you. If that's a concern, use cedar or line the PT wood with thick food-grade plastic sheets.
I didn't see it a month ago so thanks OP.

I'm thinking about a way to utilize these but raise the bed on legs/posts to help with the critters and reduce the need to kneel.

$6.46 to $9.86 an eight-footer in seven weeks at my local HD. Assembling it is the easy part, working to earn the cash to buy it is the bigger issue.

Be aware. This kit is not compatible with PT lumber. While the connectors are zmax coated, the fasteners are only zinc coated for interior use.

If you intend on using PT lumber, use a class 55 coated screw as a replacement. Simpsons Strong-Drive SD screws are an example.

As some others have stated, I'm going to pick this up just for the brackets. Checked Lowe's website, and the Rigid Tie RTC2Z is $7.78 per for me.

I used these to build a firewood rack last year and have been pretty unimpressed by them. Had to reinforce them a couple times already. It was definitely my fault for how I designed one section, but even the sections I did right were a let down.

Lowes has/had a similar kit a couple months ago. May still have them

2x4s are cheap as hell again. Not pre covid price...but they're down a lot from a year ago.
$5.50 for a 2x4 these days, a few months ago they were back around $3 but no more

Wow, these blocks are awesome, ty for mentioning them.
We did 2 interlocking bed kits from HD last year but these will be so much more flexible for custom lengths, depths, and designs in other areas. Cool!

Yup, 6$ by me in NY again… let the price gouging assholes make their record profits again!!!

We were down in the 3-4$ range again too, built all our animal enclosures I had been waiting for. This garbage being allowed to happen is really hurting small places like our animal sanctuary.

BTW… not sure why you got downvoted, prices are almost double what they were again.

I really like the 2x4 basics kit for workbench as the legs come with and do well in a garage (wet floors) vs having to buy a mix of treated/untreated for this setup

They're not bad, but pricey if not on sale. Plus I had to spend an hour shaving off the sharp edges, overmoldings, burrs, and drilling out the screw holes.

What I did like was their height. I was able to make top boards 2x10 and was able to lap them for a joint.

They're not super sturdy, but they will do the job for just an Average Joe's bench.

To me these seem mostly for aesthetic reasons. I haven't had any problems using some long stainless screws and a butt joint for my workbench-no brackets necessary. There are quite a few low cost ways to add extra strength to the joint: https://homemade-furniture.com/wo...utt-joint/
