Home Depot would typically give a military discount in store with proof of service. HD has now updated their discount to be more in line with Lowe's system. Now after you verify your service online you can order online to receive the discount on eligible purchases or use the app while shopping at the store. Follow the link and select military discount and follow the instructions. It only took about 10 mins to verify.

I missed it, but it's about damn time!
Oorah!
And the QR code should show. It takes a second or two to load on my phone.
Not a fan of having to use an app for the discount because I have limited data and and an older phone. But it does make check out easier in some ways. Where at Lowes you need a cashier to enter in the military discount before you scan items. So means that you usually can't use the self check out lines. And at Home Depot you'd have to wave over an employee after you scan your items at self check out.
Spouses should be eligible for the Home Depot discount too. Where my wife mentioned it. Haven't really looked into it. I thought I saw other posts saying Lowes will grant it to the spouse if they see that both are in the same household.

Just take a screenshot of the QR code on your phone and pull it from photo when you need to scan then you don't need to use data.

I checked and the FAQs say that spouses are eligible, but dependents (kids) aren't
You don't need to download the app, just login to your account in a mobile browser, it will display the QR code.
This was all near the beginning of the year. And I can see how this $400 limit, or whatever it is, may be an issue. So it's something that I'll be keeping in mind when deciding if I should go to Lowes or HD. Not sure when they reset the calendar year for the limits.
