These are made in China I believe unlike the US made lodge cast iron. Enamel coating may be of varying quality and prone to chipping. That's why I skipped getting cheaper enameled pots from lodge and Martha Stewart and went with Staub.

I was shopping for these just last week. It was $80. Same price as Amazon and target.

Would be this good over an open fire outdoors? I need a Dutch oven for camping.

It's still a good deal, but the Lodge enameled cast iron models can be confusing. I believe the ones that received the highest ratings, even better than Staub, but a step below Le Creuset, was the fancier two tone model with the "rings" on the lid... this model (just Google it):

Lodge Enameled Cast Iron 4.5-Quart Dutch Oven, Red, EC4D43

Here it is in blue:

I have a purple enamel Dutch oven. I'm not crazy about the color. It was on clearance somewhere when I purchased it.

I really like the color of the Ash Lodge Dutch oven. My concern is this. The purple Dutch oven I owns sticks terribly and the inside is stained REALLY bad. I've tried Bar Keepers Friend and baking soda. What am I doing wrong? If I replace the purple one with this one, will it stain as bad and continue to stick? Every single thing I cook in it sticks.

You'd want the non enameled lodge dutch oven. It can go to 700 degrees and up. Enameled cast iron will start to lose the enamel at temps over 400-450 degrees. The enamel is non stick and easy to clean, but a fire is way too hot for them.

Good news? The non enameled are even cheaper. I like the looks of the ozark trail 5 quart cast iron. Flat top so you can put other things on top. Like biscuits or some coals. And a nice spring handle so you can pick it up with less heat.

Plenty of other Lodge and other brand basic cast iron dutch ovens on walmart.

$26.88

Not a good pan. When buying a Dutch over... always look for a pot with broader base like Tramoltina makes. Sold at Costco 7+4 quart pots in a set for 69 bucks
