Any one have any experience with the warranty? Or is it safe to assume they are gonna mail you back someones elses beatup controller?

If you combine this with the 15% off xbox gift card deal from Dollar General it would make it $119. You would have to spend $127.50 when you buy the gift cards. Any left over GC balance could help offset the sales tax if you live in one of those states.

I would think, being Microsoft, replacement would be new or at least manufacturer refurb with same warranty. Apparently they increased the warranty [xbox.com] from 90 days to 1 year and covered repairs after reports of issues.

IMO, the only place to buy this is Costco with its "forever" warrenty because the failure rate on these are high. So wait for another sale or buy at the current price. You will still come out ahead in the end.

For that price I figure it's worth the risk to send to Microsoft or get my money back from Amex.

They're extended warranty is only 20 dollars as well. I believe if you're near a Microsoft store you can walk in with your controller and you'll walk out with a new controller .
