Thanks for replying, but the other guy confirmed he could transfer money from T-mobile bank to Chase and it qualified for the bonus...?
I haven't tried ACH. I did true DD and it worked. Maybe a personal account to another as ACH works? But I find the I can't use Chase to do an ACH to any other bank. I guess they want me to pay for Wire. Same with other banks (Chase is not a special kind for evil).
Here's the excerpt.
Have your direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of coupon enrollment. Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such as Zelle®) are not considered a direct deposit.

How do you do direct deposit from another bank to Chase? I am confused because I thought direct deposit is same as ACH (money transfer between banks by using bank routing numbers and bank account numbers)?
Just signed up for this. I don't understand why folks don't just do DD from their employer instead of trying to game it with other methods that might show up as DD. I just set up Chase as a secondary bank and $500 DD will go into it every pay period. Once I'm at $1500 I'll stop the DD since there is no maintenance fee with that balance.

You don't want to piss off your payroll department, especially when you are doing this quite often with other bank bonuses.
Used ACH from TD Ameritrade a few years back...no problem getting the bonus. Can someone confirm that pushing $ from TD Ameritrade to Chase still works for this promotion?
I successfully applied the offer and received confirmation of my account opening. They mailed me a debit card and before it arrived, I received snail mail informing me that the card was cancelled. I tried to log in to my existing Chase account (profile had my credit card) and it was blocked,, with a message for me to call them. The CSR informed me that Chase made a decision to cancel my account, no explanation given. Apparently they did not cancel my credit card, but I will have to call back to figure out how to be able to access that online.
I took advantage of the checking bonus > 2 years ago.

Oh wow, I knew Chase was trigger-happy but that still surprises me.
So, I'm curious. Is this likely a lifetime ban, or is there usually some finite period?
I think I was rejected on a subsequent application, but I'm not sure. I did eventually obtain the same card years later. Who knows, maybe the next (current?) recession will hit and they'll cancel it again.
The hit to the credit score from the reduction in credit lines added insult to injury.
