Beyond 500 feet, the Pebblebee product relies on their "CrowdGPS Community" - just like Apple's vast network of iDevices constantly pinging one another. Except there are a zillion more iDevices than Pebblebees amongst the general population, which makes it a superior network for finding things. And Apple's technology is much more precise - well, certainly for anything with a U1 chip [pocket-lint.com]. So, as discussed above, it won't be as precise for anything older than the iPhone 11.
Pebblebee say they've sold over a million of their devices. That's great. Apple sells about 200 million new iPhones every year.
And if you're using any of these trackers without a phone - for the love of God, why?!? If you don't own one, ok, but otherwise I can't think of a single reason to try using any type of tracker device without a phone or tablet.
tl;dr - you're much more likely to find an Airtagged device via the Find My app than anything attached to the Pebblebee - particularly if your missing item is more than 500 feet away.

lol You beat me to it.
But just watched again and I was actually wrong. He installed the apple trackers but that wasnt what caught them. He noticed the 2 cars in the same driveway that he caught on camera.

Depends on your local LE, they may help you out by categorize the item as misplaced and help you get the item back from the thief, or they just don't care, like my instance.
At some point, folks will be fed up and be a vigilante, and try to get their $hit back, but that's never a wise choice. Its only material things and hope karma will catchup to those.
