4x8GB gives you dual channel AND dual rank for around a 5-10% performance gain in Ryzen systems. Crucial's 2x16GB kit is not dual rank and is 5-10% slower.

So 4x8 is faster for this particular kit of RAM.

Friendly reminder that 5-10% difference in benchmarks is not equal to 5-10% real world performance difference.

Anyone want to take a stab at why crucial says these won't work in an optiplex 7060?

Probably because the 16GB x 2 was a better deal at $89.99 posted couple of days ago.

Decent price and beats Amazon at $70 but rather have 32GB

Just curious, any benefits for having 4-8GB sticks vs 2-16GB sticks? (assuming I only want 32GB)

Depends on your Motherboard. But using 4x8gb limits future upgrading by not leaving 2 Motherboard slots open, allowing you jump to 64GB later on with another pair of 2x16GB DDR4 memory. If you do 8GB x 4 now, you've used all slots and are stuck at 16GB.

Plus, $51 x 2 = $102, and previous deal was $89 for 16GB x 2 = 32GB. So cost vs.GB, and future upgrade path is cleaner.

My 2 cents. Not an expert, but I like to have my upgrade options clearly available.

Because the motherboard isn't compatible with this RAM

Is there a big difference between 3200mhz vs 3600mhz. I have 3600mhz 16gb and want to see if it's worth getting these 32gb

Two sticks are generally better for stability, on some platforms you might not be able to run four sticks at their rated speed. The new Alder Lake chips have been having problems with this.

They want more money. I mean if you ask for compatible memory they direct you away from what they sell on sale.

This should work fine. It says it is compatible with Intel and AMD. The top one is exactly the same as what they try to sell you for more profit.

This page says the Optiplex 7060 uses SO-DIMM. Thats notebook memory formfactor. The Crucial parts here are regular DIMM for desktop.

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/optiplex-7060-desktop/opti_7060_mff_setup_specs_manual/me... [dell.com]

Some small / micro size desktops use notebook parts. I'm not familiar with all the Dell models though, that sound like yours? mini/micro size desktop?

EDIT TO add : apparently some of the 7060's are full size and use regular desktop DIMMs and some are mini size like the one I found. So YMMV depending on the specific version of 7060

Would this be a good option for this laptop?

https://slickdeals.net/f/15520726-dell-inspiron-14-laptop-299-88-plus-free-shipping

It comes with 1 x 4GB of DDR4 3200 GHz i believe.

Also, color doesn't actually matter does it? Lol

EDIT: I'm sorry I'm a buffoon, just noticed it says desktop memory which I'm guessing is different.
