For these low-cuts and wearing shorts, enough moisture on your legs or in your socks will eventually run down, soak your socks, then run into the shoe. if wearing long pants, same consequence and results. Enough water on top of the shoe, it will eventually get in around the shoe tongue. Note that this Asics shoe has the solid material wrapped around the toe -- that's good.
If stepping in shallow puddles, you're mostly okay; if splashing through puddles, moisture will eventually make it to your feet. If walking through rain-soaked grass for a while. you're mostly okay if the grass is substantially lower than the shoe's height.
All said, I always have at least one pair of Goretex in my closet; their benefit is generally worth the cost, especially when you can get them at a good price.

Edit: Ok, I see it now, but I am guessing it is a misprint of some kind. Guessing it is an old copy paste...since it is relatively hidden, and this is the first I have seen this mentioned in all the Asics threads. Kudos for attention to detail though!
Agreed, my last pair gtx shoes lasted more than 6 years still can use them for yard work
hoka shoes are good for standing, or slow walking. I have Bondi, and i will put them on after my soccer game.
