This is too high currently (the fact that Microcenter is more expensive than anywhere else should be a hint that they're not discounting yet). Right now it's way too close to the 12600k, which not only had much higher boost and base clocks, the ability to OC, a better iGPU and more cache, but also adds 4 e-cores (essentially a 7700k worth of CPU power on their own).
These locked i5s will be good chips if the prices come down, especially the 12500 which seems like the best value if it stays within $10-20 of the 12400, but there's no reason to rush to buy one now. Intel chips have not, and will not be in short supply. It's the cheap motherboards that have been hard to come by....

Things have changed: 12600k is now about $300, approximately $90 more thn the 12400. Also 12400F is only $10-25 cheaper.
