I think they just changed how they are manufactured. The old ones were compact and cleaned well. The new version has a lot less material and "fluffs" out quickly and is extremely less effective

I don't know if the quality of the refills has changed or maybe I received some fake ones, but the recent set I received barely seemed to be able to clean my toilets. I think I will be going back to the brush method with toilet bowl cleaner.

That same thing happened to me. I hated the last refills I bought. I might go buy some at a retail store and see if they're different. I have a feeling i got a counterfeit last time.

There hasn't been a deal on 30 pack refills in a long time. Used to be able to get them for <25c/head.

I saw the difference as well. The one I got from Costco also had same issue but the only me I got from BJs seems to be good. Not sure if it's older lot at BJs

The last refills I bought the heads just fell out after couple scrubs. Really really bad quality.

They're a little more convenient than using a toilet brush and cleaner. I have hard well water so they didn't clean very well… a toilet brush with holder is $4 and cleaner is $1, and they clean better and last longer. IMHO

These are more expensive, more wasteful, and don't last as long as a regular toilet brush and cleaner. I don't understand the appeal on these

I think the appeal is not keeping that gross toilet brush. A disposable cleaning pad that you don't have to touch, appeals to some people.

Agreed. Fell off, didn't clean well. Threw away the wand after a few uses.

Guess that's why they're now a 'slickdeal'.

My wife has toilet phobia and got a bunch of these. It's really wasteful. There's nothing these can do that a few shakes of 99 cent ajax powder and a good toilet brush (i use this one [homedepot.com]) can't do.

These products also encourage you to wash your toilet less frequently because you can't really reuse it unless you wash all the soapy goop off of it.
