Must be between 21-86 and live in the US. Must have an iPhone 8 or newer. Must wear daily for data collection, perform a series of cognitive surveys. Download the app and perform the questionnaire along with a cognitive test to qualify. After the test, you confirm your address and they send you the Apple Watch SE. It took about a week after finishing the main survey. And I just received it by FEDEX. Apple Watch SE 44mm Space Gray. I was not given a choice of which watch I wanted.
You can read more about it on their website. Or search the App Store for Intuition.
Be part of Intuition: a brain health study
Intuition is a virtual research study sponsored by Biogen, in collaboration with Apple, for participants between the ages of 21 and 86. By joining us, you can help researchers investigate the role an Apple Watch and iPhone could play in:
Measuring changes in thinking and memory in adults
Studying longer-term changes in brain health – some of which may occur normally as we age, while others could be an early indicator of certain forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease
This study, therefore, may be an important step toward better understanding overall brain health.

Anyway, in for 10...
"Your participation will last up to 2 years."
"keep the Apple Watch you receive if you earn enough points by completing activities during the study"
possible they will bill you if you don't complete the study over 2 years.

Here's the thing: if you want to crap on this because you think you'll have to return the watch, fine. (You almost certainly won't have to though.) If you want to crap on it because you simply don't want to spend the time to participate, fine.
If you want to crap on it because you think Big Bad Government Man is suddenly going to have access to something that they don't already have backdoor access to, then frankly, I think you're already too cognitively impaired to qualify for the study.
Studies like these are immensely helpful for researching some of the most horrific neurological disorders we have. Anyone who has cared for a person with severe Alzheimer's or dementia, for example, will know how awful and heartbreaking those diseases are, and should be grateful that there are people willing to help in the ongoing quest to better understand and eventually treat them.
