FYI You can get this for about $100 less if you can verify with Id.me directly from GE. I paid around $450

Seems to be only an added military discount that brings it down that much

I bought the XL Frigidaire countertop icemaker for $159.99 in November of 2020. Costco now carries it for $199.99 straight price. I love it. It might not have wi-fi of the GE but it has worked great for our family and is currently $350.00 cheaper. It has a two-year warrantee when bought with a Citi Card. We bring it out when we have company over or on very hot days when our refrigerator ice maker won't keep up. It has a large 1.32-gallon water reservoir. It can produce 48lbs of ice in a 24hr period. It also can make a batch of ice in less than 7 minutes! I was on the fence when we purchased this icemaker, but it has been one of the better purchases I have made at Costco.
High Five For those who want a non-nugget ice maker, this sounds like the REAL slick deal right here.

unfortunately wife thought it crazy I would spend this much on standalone ice maker so it's not worth aggravation of listening to her. Also don't wish to descale semi regularly (or at least tell myself). I'll continue to own it vicariously. laugh out loud
Use distilled water and you will have virtually NO mineral buildup.

Nice.

Yeah I can't pull trigger. Maybe if I had a bar or basement or lived in RV. Too many plug in appliances as is for fancy cubes. What I'm always on the constant costco lookout for is fancy bourbon. SoCal recently got Coy Hill JD, secondary is upwards of a g. I'm jealous af. laugh out loud

You nailed it. It automatically tops off the ice level as melt gets recycled and the level lowers. Or you could remove ice to store in freezer and turn it off. HTH

Omg you just answered a question I've had for the past few weeks.

I got this for Christmas and I was wondering if it recycled melted ice or what. I guess I could have googled it but I'm also apparently quite lazy, laugh out loud

Well the person you're replying to didn't mention anything about an ice maker that makes nugget ice. So not really a good comparison.

Yep; better watch out, they might know how much ice you use! Or worst-case, they might hack your ice machine and make EVEN MORE ice!

Some grocery stores (Mariano's if in Chicagoland) carry clear spheres by the box now.

What is "good" ice?
Good ice is clear ice like they sell in stores. It really isn't better than the kind you make in your freezer, it is simply more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It may last longer in your beverage as well. I buy mine from a McDonald's franchise near me for $.99 a bag (10 lbs.) I took the ice maker out of my freezer when I found that deal and I now enjoy several extra cubic feet of freezer space.

We've had this for almost a year. Flawless. Makes ice and it never stops working. Chick fil a and canes chicken nugget ice at home!

This is totally false. Good isn't clear like they sell in stores. Otherwise, people would just be buying good ice at grocery stores instead of purchasing this. Good ice is a softer kind of ice that is made in a different manner than regular ice cubes. To my knowledge, the only places to buy it retail are Sonic or Chik Fil A.

Reviews are mixed about this one. Was recently on sale on Amazon and people complained about several broken ones that just made loud whirling sounds and stuff without actually making ice. Hit or miss. If you get one that works, expect good ice for a year before it needs replaced.
I work for GE Appliances. The largest cause for failed ice machines is calcium scale build-up. If the machine is maintained, it works great!

All of the units on Amazon are the 1.0 version, which was plagued with issues.
How can you tell the difference between the 1.0 model and 2.0? Different UPC?
