I bought one of these last year and it's been solid. It's waterproof until you stand in pouring rain for 2+ hours and then the sleeves soak through. It's really warm and windproof and the hood sheds water well.
The pockets are very nice and have a soft lining and the shell is sturdy.
I bought one of these instead of spending double on a Carhartt jacket thinking that I could just return to Home Depot if it didn't feel decent.

The only thing to consider is that they aren't sizes like Carhartt. Don't size down. I wear a medium Carhartt but a medium in this jacket doesn't have as much room.

There are 2 different jackets. The reviews for the Vail say that it is a bit oversized, so it's helpful for others to know before buying that one.

Many people choose not to make brand loyalty or patriotic statements with their clothing. This isn't really hard to understand.

Edit: and according to CATProductAdvisor in the Q/A, this is manufactured in China. So, yeah...
