Tried to configure this laptop on Lenovo website and it appears 16gb is truly the max ram. That's a deal breaker
Relax, bro. It has two DIMM slots.

Notes:
The max memory is based on the test results with current Lenovo® memory offerings. The system may support more memory as the
technology develops.

A lot of money to gamble on a "may". How about they only sell this when the technology has developed? This reminds me of console games that rush to release without features then rely on after the fact patches to get those features in over years.
I don't think you are gambling anything on this aspect.

Thank you for posting! Looks like a good deal. What's the GPU wattage, is it full power or max-Q?

I currently own this laptop. Haven't gamed much but here are my thoughts
Runs everything well that I've thrown at it usually at medium to high on a second 1080p monitor.
Battery life non gaming is 5 hours ish.
Mine currently has 32gb's ram

Only issue is 1 of the ports seems to repeatedly disconnect when connected to a wireless mouse.

It will hold 32gb. I bought mine from Microcenter a few months ago, and upgraded it. I did update to the latest bios at the time before upgrading.
