$65.99 - PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller (Nintendo Switch)

Regular $99.

Saw this marked on sale on both Target and Amazon websites with my local Target having one in stock. Store display said $99 and I was fully ready to have them price match their website but it rang up as $60. The extra $5 savings is likely very YMMV.

This is a very premium feeling remote with swappable joysticks and mappable (or removable) rear paddles. I honestly prefer it to the Switch Pro controller which is considered by many to be one of the best controllers made across any platform.

It comes with both a black and white faceplate that are interchangeable and also includes a 10ft braided USB-C cable that will allow for charging and/or wired play. All accessories are able to be stored in an included carrying case.

It has favorable reviews across all sites with plenty of additional details on both Amazon and Target.com.

That's very interesting. I had no idea the back buttons/paddles were copyrighted. How is that any different from offset joysticks like both Xbox and Nintendo use? Or analog sticks in general? Or the analog stick buttons that pretty much all modern controllers use? Or rumble/haptic feedback? Perhaps all those are copyrighted, too.

I could keep going, but I most definitely agree that it's ridiculous they could copyright something like that. Especially when the N64 had a rear button back in 1996.

It's not copyright, patents are a completely different system with a different purpose.

PowerA is replacing my son's controller due to drifting in a VERY loose left stick for free (2 year warranty). While I'm not happy with having an issue with a not-quite year old controller, the company is honoring their warranty. And my son treats his controllers like a typical 10 year old.

I have both and honestly prefer this to the Nintendo version. The rear paddles are true game changers and I'm quite surprised it hasn't become a normal feature of all controllers.

If you like rumble, then go with the Nintendo version as this doesn't support rumble. I always disable rumble so it isn't something I miss.
SCUF holds the patent and only licenses it out for a really high price. Seems like only Microsoft and PowerA have paid it so far.

The Nintendo Z trigger is a trigger not a duplication of a face button which is what Scuf has a patent on. Other things like offset joysticks... the patents for that expired in the early 2000s but Microsoft paid the license on them (to ASCII corp i believe) for the first XBOX. For rumble, Sony lost a huge lawsuit for violating patent and it's why PS3 didn't ship with rumble until the court case ended.

Looks like a pretty good deal but there's also the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller for $50 (regular price). The controller is well designed, has two rear paddles, supports rumble and motion. 8BitDo controllers does not wake the Switch or has NFC/Amiibo support.

$100 is a fake price, I've never seen it that high on Amazon before.

I got this for Christmas and it's a decent controller, but the bottom triggers feel a little cramped and kind of annoying honestly. Its not really a problem though as they are removable.

Also the face plate and analog sticks are replaceable and some extra parts (including the white face) are included in the case.

The controller also comes with a pretty nice carrying case, so that's a bonus.

Overall it isn't bad, but every time I've looked at, it was about $70, so I'm not sure how good this deal is.

At that price point, I would have been all over this if it had Rumble.

"NOTE: Controller does not support HD rumble, IR or Amiibo NFC.; Motion controls require Bluetooth Wireless Mode; Stereo audio and in-game chat available in Wired Mode only"
Is there a difference between hd rumble and normal rumble? does it have rumble on pc?

While it's not for everyone and you can find other third party controllers for much cheaper, this is an "elite" / "pro" version controller that is cheaper than the first party controller it's trying to improve upon. Most Pro/Elite controllers are $150 plus.

PowerA has controllers under $30, but they definitely feel it. Cheap plastic, clicky buttons, etc. This Fusion Pro controller feels very premium by comparison.

But the problem is 1) It doesn't have Haptic Feedback/ vibration. 2) The headphone jack does not work wirelessly. You have to plug in to the switch to get it to work.

Probably the same issue on 3rd and 1st party controller because they're getting the "switch mechanism" from the same supplier.

The supplier does it for everyone. Xbox official controllers, the PS5 controller. All of them.

Why dosent this controller support rumble. One would think rumble would be pretty standard on all controllers both first and third party.

IMO, no. It feels nice and the programmable buttons on the back are handy, but there is one big issue with this controller. The changeable faceplate interferes with the movement of one of the joysticks. It works fine if you take the faceplate off, but then it looks horrible. I really wanted this to work since I use the fusion xbox controller for my PC and I love it. Maybe they'll make a second version later.

Bit the bullet and its been good to me for my niche purposes of a PC controller with the same button and joystick layout. Buttons are harder to press down than first party controllers, but way better D-Pad than my Switch Pro with the lightly modded D-Pad. Just worried about QC since I also know from experience of lower end PowerA controllers being particularly low quality and failing on me.

Definitely not better than the official pro controller if using it for the Switch though lol.

Got mine yesterday, programmed rear paddles, was able to program 2 to the same button. Thought the paddle would be clickier, but are kinda stiff, not great for quick tapping, but controller quality feels pretty good. White cover makes joysticks have audible click nose when the shaft makes contact, which some people may like and others may find annoying. Overall probably worth the $66
