You must not have been in a third world country where no coffee maker is available in every people's household.

Ordered during last promotion. Worst instant coffee I've ever tried. Tastes like dirt.

Instant coffee all taste same to me.
Kroger sells same sized private branded coffee for $2 or Walmart does same with its private brand, there's nothing great about this one.

Can't figure out why all these instant things are priced so much higher than real bean, which taste much richer with deep coffee aroma. Taster's choice, known as cheapest alternate to real coffee outside the US is a joke, comparable to pharmaceutical drugs, must be spending tons of money to our idiots in Washington to ensure Americans pay highest price for pills just to LIVE, so that these crooks live in a ship that consumes fuel alone costs more than how many of us, e t
Tasters choice is probably the only instant coffee I can tolerate, that and Taiwanese or Korean Instant Coffee is pretty good Maxim is one thats decent it's a coffee/sugar/cream mix in 1 packet so pretty simple.

Preppers prefer it. I think it can be vacuum packed and stored a long time without degradation. I am not sure regular beans would hold up in this use case. Could be a reason for the higher cost (higher demand, many people now with mindset of supply issues and this coffee is apocalypse-handy?; definitely convenience on getting a cup of Joe in a situation just add hot water)

The extraction process is involved, look it up, the more flavor components they preserve the costlier it is.

That being said I only use it to spike my hot cocoa

Nah.
Try Mt. Hagen from Germany. Freeze dried is preferred.
Many stores use it as a generic and you can get it for close to $4 a jar.

HEB in particular does this for their "central market" brand.
