I like to keep tools with batteries attached in general and I had a few things like their flashlight and multi-tool that I would keep "borrowing" batteries from other things for. I also only had a 5ah and a 1.5ah battery currently.

Which had a comment that helped explain to me the real differences between their batteries and help decide which size battery to use for what type of tool and job:
It's much easier for 10 cells each working half as hard to keep the power level up. The tougher the task, the harder it is for 5 cells to maintain the same power level as 10 cells would. In lighter-duty tasks, a bigger battery doesn't have a huge advantage, so save some weight and go with the smaller pack. As you move into medium and heavy-duty applications, the difference is noticeable and a higher capacity battery is the way to go. Remember, the amp-hour rating of a battery (also known as "AH") is a measure of how many amps a battery can supply for a period of time...It is calculated using the formula Amps X Hours. For instance (in an ideal world) this rating would mean that if you have a 5AH 20 Volt battery, you should be able to supply 5AH Amps from it for 1 hour, or 2.5 Amps for 2 hours, or 1.25 Amps for 4 hours, etc.

For my needs, the 6.5 has been nothing but great. It tracks straight, it's heavy where I need it but also light. The motor handles everything i've thrown at it too. It's a great saw, especially if you get it for "free" with 2 batteries @ $99. I think I paid $139 on sale for mine.
I tried the chat support, they said call the store .. which doesn't sound promising..
