WARNING: I have been trying to get Total to release my sons cell number to transfer to another carrier since mid-December 2021. We finally gave up and activated his phone with another carrier and got a new number. Several emails, phone calls, and chat sessions have gotten me nowhere, no real person ever returns the call and messages to cancel the service are not fulfilled. I have resorted to deciding to just report the charges as fraud on my credit card and documented the contact attempts. If you want to keep your number, I'd stay away from them. The service was marginally okay for a teenager for the price but personally I would have been very upset to have to change my number. The service is still active and not cancelled.

I do see many people asking about unlocking policy.

Well as per the new policy after take over from Verizon in November,Tracphone has updated its unlocking policy for apple devices to be 60 days post activation if activated after Nov 23rd-2021

That said,I have reached to multiple customer care rep and have even called and the fact that it gets unlocked after 60 days is something they all echoed but there was difference on if it active service or just first month of activation. There is no proven way until Jan 23rd to see when this first set of deals got launched to see how it goes.

The unlocking policy does mention it will automatically unlock after 60 days - But if some one or most of the folks trading in should not have a problem .If you plan to keep this phone for a longer run and use it I would activate the service for the second month to avoid any hassle in pushing Customer rep to unlock .As i did call out we will have to wait to see how it actually works. Its an additional $20-$22 to get some total wireless prepadi cards on sale or deals.

In the worst case if this not does not get honored we can still encash for trade in or other options to sell this for cash.

Any one with still having doubts on the unlock policy can contact customer care for their satisfaction before they jump in - however as i mentioned its more of waiting game as I did realize it was not consistent reply.

Thanks for the explanation. Please see this pic as the service receipt from Apple that indicates warranty declined due to 3rd party parts. I just filed claim with Paypal since TW online rep is useless.

Keep in mind that an Apple warranty should not be assumed for this deal, even if it may show up with a date as still valid. The deal here was for a reconditioned iPhone and if it was actually reconditioned (opened up to replace parts) then the Apple warranty would technically be void. However, some people may end up getting either new phones or phones which were basically just used and wiped / cleaned up. The warranty would probably be fine for those and Apple may even honor warranty claims for some that have been opened as long as the failed part is their own component (they do it at times, just depends on the rep dealt with). However for $130, nobody should be assuming they're getting a phone with Apple warranty. If some end up with a phone and end up getting warranty service done on it at some point later, that should be considered a lucky bonus rather than the norm. By the way … my reply is not to argue with you, but just to remind people to temper their expectations with this deal. Good luck with the phone. Hopefully these all end up lasting for a while for those looking to use them. I've had great luck with much older Apple products and even aftermarket parts on a few.

Everything works fine on mine and GREAT. I white RSIM unlocked it and working like a new phone.

I see the tons of posts about "fake" or non-oem parts the last 2 or 3 days, my goodness, this is not a new phone. Perhaps it's just a return that someone bought as new from TW, Idk. Yes, I know not all are in the same conditions but I doubt ALL went some major non-oem part replacement. My guess is most went through battery replacement which I'm fine with because I have used refurbished iPhones from TW the last 3 years without any issues and they work like new phones. Yes someone here is going to get a problematic refurbished one, keep in mind you're buying a refurbished one, not a new one, so you're rolling the dice and the reason you go for it because of the price and everyone else says theirs looks brand new. I'm not saying you should have 100% faith in TW but I will buy from them before I buy from some stranger on swappa or ebay at this low price. I guess everyone's standard / expectation is different, I have no idea what everyone's motive for this purchase, I'm using mine as backups and for family members. If you use it as a trade in and they don't approve because the unit has been modified enough to make it not eligible then yes I can see that as something to complain about. TW made no promise warranty is covered by Apple but their own warranty (no different than buying any refurbished product anywhere unless they explicitly state it's still covered by manufacturer) so you can't fault them for the legitimacy of remaining Apple warranty shown on the phone; if it legitimate then great for us. I don't know how TW is with returns (I haven't had any problems with the 6 or more refurbished iPhones I bought from them the last 3 years) but if I have problems that would be "my" route to go. Just my 2 cents

It should be no contest getting the iPhone 11 for $249 over the XR refurbished regardless of OEM parts or not (if intending to keep phone). Problem was the iPhone 11 was not available at the $249 price 2 days ago when the XR was available again.
If you plan to trade it in the phone back to Apple then the XR is a better deal. XR costs $120 for $200 trade-in value. 11 costs $250 for $300 trade-in value.
