WARNING: I have been trying to get Total to release my sons cell number to transfer to another carrier since mid-December 2021. We finally gave up and activated his phone with another carrier and got a new number. Several emails, phone calls, and chat sessions have gotten me nowhere, no real person ever returns the call and messages to cancel the service are not fulfilled. I have resorted to deciding to just report the charges as fraud on my credit card and documented the contact attempts. If you want to keep your number, I'd stay away from them. The service was marginally okay for a teenager for the price but personally I would have been very upset to have to change my number. The service is still active and not cancelled.

I do see many people asking about unlocking policy.

Well as per the new policy after take over from Verizon in November,Tracphone has updated its unlocking policy for apple devices to be 60 days post activation if activated after Nov 23rd-2021

That said,I have reached to multiple customer care rep and have even called and the fact that it gets unlocked after 60 days is something they all echoed but there was difference on if it active service or just first month of activation. There is no proven way until Jan 23rd to see when this first set of deals got launched to see how it goes.

The unlocking policy does mention it will automatically unlock after 60 days - But if some one or most of the folks trading in should not have a problem .If you plan to keep this phone for a longer run and use it I would activate the service for the second month to avoid any hassle in pushing Customer rep to unlock .As i did call out we will have to wait to see how it actually works. Its an additional $20-$22 to get some total wireless prepadi cards on sale or deals.

In the worst case if this not does not get honored we can still encash for trade in or other options to sell this for cash.

Any one with still having doubts on the unlock policy can contact customer care for their satisfaction before they jump in - however as i mentioned its more of waiting game as I did realize it was not consistent reply.

Is anyone concerned about this in the fine print of unlock policy?

"Customers are eligible for this program only once every twelve months"

I know TF/TW previously had same phrase in the old policy and it looks like cut & paste, but if they enforce it some phones may not be able to get unlocked at 60 days.
That's a good question. I would expect it would be per line, although it certainly doesn't read that way. The intent could be to keep someone from rolling through locked phones on their single line every 60 days in order to essentially unlock phones in assembly line fashion.

But I can't imagine them limiting someone who bought three phones for their family from getting two of them them unlocked because the same person purchased them.

Another one of the "wait and see" questions about unlocking. Too many unlock variables.
It made sense before with bundles and 12 month unlock requirement, that's why I have doubts about new policy. Too much seems to be just copied instead of being rewritten. Can you tell I don't really trust TF/TW? Smilie

What model did u choose the Verizon. One ?
Doesn't matter what you choose. If they verify model number they will reject. Most don't check. TW XR model we all got is not in BB trade in list.

Or stick to buying new phones if you're that particular about parts. The TW iPhone 11 deal is for a new, non-refurbished phone. Might be a better fit for you.
The original screen will cost like $150 to replace in local repair shop or $290 at Apple Store. 3rd party screen just cost $50 at local shop. OEM Battery will cost like $50 at local store or $79 at Apple. Aftermarket battery is like $8-10 on eBay. I would go with oem parts if possible.

I need an iPhone strictly to play music connected to a DAC over Wi-Fi only.
So I can purchase this one, only pay for the one month of service and then never again?

I only need the device, I already have an iPhone which I hate using with my system because then I can't "use" the phone while is with the DAC/Audio System.

I was already planning on buying a used iPad/iPhone on eBay used but this is way cheaper.

Thank you!!
I think a cheap Tracfone Android phone with USB-C is better, except if you need Apple Music as a streaming service.

Those Android phone with USB-C, such as A01, A11, is great for connecting DAC. The only thing you need on software side is using UAPP to bypass Android sampling restriction. You can also get 512GB sdcard for local music files, vs this 64GB iPhone.

If they follow same check, they will. But just one store, the others haven't started to check the model match yet. At some point, I think they all will do it as these XRs are flooding them atm. They can easily check the model match in their system just the model number is an optional input right now. One of my local store asked me why so many XRs got traded in, they have processed over 20 for the past couple days already. All same model same color of course.
Thanks 🙂

well if i shine a flashlight on it, i can see some grid-ish construction that the other 2 don't have. the curve edge also looks different, it's not as rounded.

but all of those are hard to judge unless you have another one for comparison and heck, maybe the other 2 are aftermarket and this one is real deal lol.
One user in another thread mentioned that there is a bit larger gap around the bezel of one of his phones, which sounds like the replacement screens might be slightly thicker than OEM. Check out the gap difference in the pics from this post and see if you see the same thing …

Thanks OP. It costed me $132.61 instead of $121.75 even after 25% discount and following the steps above. Any one was able to fix it?

Check your taxes, some states have a high rate for cell service/911 in addition to sales tax.

I do too, but its *reverse*. In my case the one with yellow tint is *not* flushed with the case at the bottom.

It's entirely possible the gap is due to the repairman's workmanship, rather than the part is sized incorrectly.

It's nice to see some data points that the phones were being replaced either with OEM parts or 3rd party parts. However it doesn't change the fact that TW had shipped the phones to many of us here and we already knew how bad their CS. There are few options that either you can take.
1. Try to return back to them, if they don't accept it, then file CC charges back.
2. Trade in to BB to get whatever the phones that you like or save it for later if there is a better deal.
3. Use it as is.

Obviously TW won't replace you with a device with OEM parts even though you have all the proof that they used not so good parts to refurbish the phone.

Also Apple won't replaced it as many here had experience it.

For me, I had traded in 2 to BB for iphone 13 then flipped them for profit. Need to fip 1 more then I will able to get myself an iphone 13 for less than $200.

Well they have to do it because of their thing with the FCC. However I'm sure they have set enough traps and pitfalls to not honor that.

But I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually do away with these cheap refurbished phones down the road. That's more like a Tracfone legacy thing and I don't think VZ has anything like that with Verizon Prepaid...it's just way too good.

Interesting, that's a possibility. Also could be a difference in some gaskets used during the refurb process, I suppose. Was hopping for something a bit more definitive, but oh well.

We don't put taxes as each state has their tax percentage. Any deal posted is any without taxes

Yep, they will have more clearing out of the "deals" & bundled androids may disappear with just limited phones like they do with Visable.
