Upgraded to iOS 15.2.1 and checked for Parts and Service History under Settings > General > About. As there was no Parts and Service History, the battery is not a replacement. Any battery replacement, whether genuine Apple or third-party, would show up in the history.
For XRs (unlike 12s or 13s), screen replacements will not show up in the history. A visual examination of my XR doesn't show any obvious evidence of screen replacement.
Posted by another user, FYI: For those who are wondering if you want to do a return, Yes you do have to pay return shipping if it was delivered to you. If you refuse the package you will not have to pay return shipping. For returning, USPS(Postal Service) First Class with tracking or Priority mail recommended but UPS and Fedex should work as well. (ALWAYS make sure you get tracking on your package or it can complicate your return and or cause a return to "have no evidence of arriving")

(Updated)Total Wireless/Tracfone brand Unlock Policy:
For Customers with Apple devices:
- TracFone will automatically unlock the device when it becomes eligible for unlocking.
- For all Apple devices activated with TracFone prior(Before) November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked after 12 months of active TracFone service.
- For Apple devices activated with new TracFone service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, the device will be automatically unlocked 60 days after activation in the absence of an indication of fraud.
For Customers with non-Apple(ie: Google Android/other devices) devices
- TracFone will provide an unlocking code to customers who request unlocking, provided they meet the following conditions:
- If the TracFone device was activated with TracFone service prior to November 23, 2021, then the device must have been active on TracFone Service for no fewer than 12 months with Service Plans redeemed in no fewer than 12 months, and not have had their telephone number recycled or ported.
- If the TracFone device was activated with new service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, then at least 60 days must have elapsed since the device was activated.
- The device must be in working condition.
- The device has not been reported stolen or lost, and there are no indicators of fraud.
Deployed Military Personnel:
- If you are a TracFone customer in the military and receive relocation orders outside of the TracFone Coverage Area, we will unlock your device at your request, even during the applicable lock period following the activation of your device.
- All other eligibility criteria apply to TracFone's customers who are deployed military personnel.
- Customers are eligible for this program only once every twelve months.
**Note: Not every device unlocked from Tracfone/Tracfone brands are 100% compatible with other carriers(iPhones typically but not always being an exception). Make sure and check with people here and or Tracfone for info.

5. activate and hope that it unlocks after 60 days? some people are saying this wont happen since these have been activated on totalwireless already (hence theyre refurbs).

Well as per the new policy after take over from Verizon in November,Tracphone has updated its unlocking policy for apple devices to be 60 days post activation if activated after Nov 23rd-2021
That said,I have reached to multiple customer care rep and have even called and the fact that it gets unlocked after 60 days is something they all echoed but there was difference on if it active service or just first month of activation.There is no proven way until Jan 23rd to see when this first set of deals got launched to see how it goes.
The unlocking policy does mention it will automatically unlock after 60 days - But if some one or most of the folks trading in should not have a problem .If you plan to keep this phone for a longer run and use it I would activate the service for the second month to avoid any hassle in pushing Customer rep to unlock .As i did call out we will have to wait to see how it actually works.Its an additional $20-$22 to get some total wireless prepadi cards on sale or deals.
In the worst case if this not does not get honored we can still encash for trade in or other options to sell this for cash.
Any one with still having doubts on the unlock policy can contact customer care for their satisfaction before they jump in - however as i mentioned its more of waiting game as I did realize it was not consistent reply.

mean time you can forward all calls from old iphone to this new XR.
And good point about forwarding calls to it from another number. Since iMessages can be picked up and answered from a different number, as long as it's the same iCloud account, it would probably be pretty seamless to do it that way and not even worry about unlocking in the meantime.

1. Looks like new. 100% Battery. Screen received cracked and being replace with aftermarket part. It's more pure white and bright. With Power off, the screen is more blue tint unlike the other 3 xrs are more black tint. Both Tab to Wake and Raise to Wake not working.
2. Received like new. 100% Battery. Screen has a dead white spot and took to Apple. After about 10 days, Apple confirmed both screen and battery being replaced. I took the phone back, then found out Apple erased all the programming tw did and Face ID stops working, True Tone disappears, and Battery messages shows up. Screen is more pink and blue, less white and hurts your eyes after 20 seconds, perhaps it is because has no more true tone?
3. Phone received as sign of being used. Few scratch on the screen and back. Battery 100%. I can't tell phone was opened up before or not. Compared the screen to the XR purchased from Apple, screen color looks identical which is more yellow.
4. Just received it today. I can see the white dried glue on the side in the back. Seems the back is being replaced. Phone is 90% new, I can see the used sign on power button with a hairline scratch mark. Screen looks new and battery 100%. Seems the phone being opened up from a chipped mark in the bottom. Screen color looks similar to my phone #3 which is yellow. I don't have the good xr to compare right now.
