Pulled this straight from T-mobile website.

"iPhone® X and above do not have a visible LDI. If you cannot identify your LDI on an iPhone X or above, we ask you to confirm the device has not been exposed to liquid."

The LDI indicator is there in the sim slot, but it's very hard to make out and see. So T-mobile store should be taking your word there is no water damage.
That excerpt seems to be telling the consumer that the LDI is hard to see and if they can't see it when attempting trade-in, then they should confirm whether or not it has water damage based on their personal knowledge. It doesn't say their employee should just take the customer's word for it. If a rep actually examines it, they will likely know better how to recognize it and can make their own determination. (I doubt most do, but it can certainly happen.) It's just hard to spot and you have to know what you're looking for.

Just got mine, just curious, it came with a sticker on saying "charge at least 5 hours before using"
But I thought lithium ion batteries don't have to charge before use?
I think it's just a standard boilerplate sticker TW slaps on all their refurbs. Since all the refurbs aren't charged to a consistent level, it's to make sure you have enough juice to get through set-up and updates.

so just to reiterate, these are the best options of what to do with these XR's?

1. trade in to best buy for $190 gift card
2. trade in to apple for $200 gift card
3. trade in to gamestop for $210 credit or $168 cash
4. use to trade in with your carrier (sprint seems to be a great deal right now)
5. activate and hope that it unlocks after 60 days? some people are saying this wont happen since these have been activated on totalwireless already (hence theyre refurbs).

am i missing any options?
The above seem to be the best options for phones in less than pristine condition. Otherwise, Trademore offers $192 cash for perfect condition.

Other buyers were offering up to $260 for unlocked, like new versions but that's now dropped to $232 so probably not worth the risk of waiting out the unlock period and potentially paying $25 for a second month of service.

FYI a friend got this deal to do a trade in and Tmobile would not accept the phone due to a replaced screen/ water damage
Quote from KiLiTLi :
Tried trade-in at Tmobile today. Seems like my XR was missing the water damage indicator in the SIM card slot, indicative of a changed screen.

It seems T-Mobile is stricter when checking these phones at trade in. Best Buy is the other option as they seem to be more lenient.

Also, do these posts suggest that one of the ways to check for a replaced screen is to check for the liquid damage indicator?

$390 for iPhone XR if you trade in and activate on T-Mobile.

$190 value is given by Best Buy,
$200 value by T-Mobile as instant discount
Do they do hard pull to setup if you don't have t mo account?

Taxes is full amount of phone minus $200 which t-mobile is offering

So for $499-$200(Tmobile offer)=$299+Tax(-minus)traded phone value
$499-$200=$299+Tax-$190(XR BB Value)
$299+$34-$190=$143

I did a trade-in with Best Buy but first set up the $20 Talk and Text plan with T-Mo via chat - there was no hard pull.

Anyone can share the timeline until receive orders from TW?

I ordered XR on 14th, and my tracking shows me still as 'Label Created.' I tried to contact TW CS and supervisor, but no one is giving a solution to this situation. The CSs just repeat that it has been sent, and the supervisors just repeat 'wait for the package'. I'm sick of talking on the phone with them.

Just need to select VZ for locked TW/TF branded on Trademore or does it need to be Other?

Yea I too have a XR. So debating between pixel 6 and Samsung s21. Do you know how long is the s21 promo?
If I setup the $20 t mo plan, no hard pull even when I trade in XR and pay the s21 outright, correct?

for use with which carrier? Sprint was a no-go. they said it wasnt unlocked by the original carrier so they couldnt activate. My phone reads 'No Sim restrictions' too
So is this an artifact of sprint's CDMA days? They look at IMEI and not just the sim? So unlocking the sim doesn't keep Sprint from knowing the IMEI is still locked by TW?

As someone called it, a soft unlock.

I even tried to activate a Sprint phone on Sprint that the seller said worked fine unlocked on T mobile, and I couldn't get it to work on my Sprint account.

I selected "Other" since it won't work on VZW and I don't want to risk getting my phone returned.
