so the safe way is to tie with TMO and pay two months bill?
Not necessarily - there's a lot of folks on that thread who were able to get T-Mo to unlock their phones within the first week by reaching to T-Force (T-Mo customer service) via phone or Twitter.

If you want 100% guarantee, there is no safe option for it. Even for T-Mobile, I did see someones said their phones are still locked even though TM rep said it's unlocked. Also a lot of success unlock reports for the first 0-2 weeks after activation.

From experience, I know that Tmo requires 40 days the device needs to be visible on the Network, device is paid off, and no more than 2 unlocks requested per line for 12month period.

Yes, 40 days requirement is general rule for unlocking. But for BB iPhone, TM made an exception and they will send unlock request to 3rd party. A lot of success reports can be found on SD. For my experience, I unlocked 5 phones in the first week after activation, all of them go through without any problems.

ok I'm assuming this only applies to phones that were paid in full even if they haven't reached the 40 days reaching out to T-Force you may get lucky getting them unlocked? Prob for guys who signed up for prepaid lines to qualify for the bb trade-in promo.

I'm only asking cause I see people post about iphones bought on promo with the magenta max plan, those I believe are not paid off and qualify for credits, so I assume Tmo wouldn't unlock those regardless of the length (40 days or less) unless they were paid in full right?

If lots of people keep abusing this and cancelling lines after unlock I'm sure they will implement more strict rules in the future. It's one thing to buy it to upgrade or flip and KEEP the lines and account and another thing is get service to get device then cancel it right away. Human greed has no boundsWink

for the BB iPhone 13 deal, TM keep telling me that my new iPhone is not showing up in their system, and they cannot unlock it. I already use the new iPhone for 2 days.
Any ideas?

Did you contact T-Force on Twitter or FB? If the rep has no clue, just talk to another one. Please mention your phone is a BB paid off one. Most T-Force reps should know how to do it.

When you trade in the XR to ATT, do you take out the SIM and then mail it in?
I basically turned on the XR but did nothing else. I didn't activate the SIM.
Do I send in power adapter?
Thanks for your help.

Pull the SIM, reset phone to Hello screen and send only the phone. Trade-ins never require accessories.

Did anyone receive an updated unlocking policy via text?
I just got one today.

They added a few things including "If you have not met the required minimum period of active TracFone service, TracFone may unlock your device, but you will incur a charge of up to $300, depending on how long your service was active prior to the unlocking request."
