Hmm...did you leave your SIM in by chance I am asking because I did not and their diagnosis said Verizon (if you leave the SIM in the TFW banner pops up on the screen.

You just connect the iphone to wireless and then cancel through all the setup to prep it for trade it but REMOVE the TFW Sim. I did this to two the store did this to the other one as it was in the welcome screen
No sim inside. What I did was reset phone then used wifi w/o sim to get pass the setup so maybe thats why?

So I can try inserting the tw sim to get pass setup then hopefully they see as Verizon?

Nope, you did exactly what I did so there goes my theory. That's still a good price without the headache of flipping (posting, fees, shipping) or sending it and waiting for your credit/check. Perhaps just an alert CSR I would try another store if you have some more XRs to wash.

I lost my XR on Halloween and I was hoping to buy enough to get one for free. I got a total of 4 XR's. Traded in three and kept one. The one I am keeping was brand new and never activated (I think boxes that they come in come with a sicker on the side indicating the condition the Dark Blue in Brand NEW not activated...Lighter color Blue Grade A condition) I got one Dark Blue sticker (brand new) and 3 Light Blue Grade A)

I got one with a light blue sticker and two with a purple sticker. All look like new, but I'm pretty sure that the light blue one is the only one with an original screen and battery. The two purple stickers are ever so slightly thicker looking (we're talking only a fraction of a millimeter though). It's only noticeable looking directly at the bezel right next to each other. Also, I charged them all up and let them sit and have realized that the one with the light blue sticker lasts much longer (all sitting idle, not in use). The two with purple sticker will last for maybe 3 or 4 days between needing a charge while the light blue one lasts more like a week. Kind of what I'd expect from an OEM versus cheaper aftermarket battery.

I just spoke to my buddy who also ordered 4 he got 3 purple and one light blue. You can notice it if you have them together (the screen differences on the purple units) Also on one of the Purple he had some battery issues. He washed the 3 Purple at Game Stop and kept the Light Blue for himself. But again...idk this is only a guess based on what he and I got

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see others weigh in on the stickers. I'm wondering if purple indicates a replaced screen and/or battery (condition on those still looked like new and everything worked perfectly).

I received all purple stickers, 4 variants of LCDs among them that I can tell. I can even tell one of them has a new aftermarket shell. Ordered at various time throughout the period. It's pretty obvious they don't source their refurb from just one place.

Conclusion? It's a lucky draw. You can't say if it's all OEM parts unless you open it or at least compare it with a genuine XR side by side.

That's why I'm curious to see more replies. It would be interesting if the stickers told the story. For instance, purple = replaced parts, light blue = all OEM, dark blue = never activated or something. It would make sense for them to have some kind of labeling system like that in place, but obviously, they wouldn't necessarily mean what we would first assume. More data points may help.

In ios 15.2, No battery message. True tone works fine. Face ID works fine.

In my case, tw replaced these parts and coded the serial numbers on fake parts to cheat out Apple system with no message. Now Apple caught it and resets everything back. Now these messages are back. True tone not working now, Face ID not working now. This phone looks like brand new phone. $130 is not a lot, but it worths $0 to me if I knew it contains 3rd party part.
Any chance you know what the color of stickers were on your boxes? Did the one with an aftermarket screen have a purple sticker, by chance?

I just checked one more thing that came to mind in looking for possible OEM versus aftermarket screens. I weighed the XR with the light blue sticker (which appeared ever so slightly thinner) on my postal scale and it showed 6.8 ounces. The one with a purple sticker weighed a slightly heavier 7.0 ounces. Obviously, scales could be slightly off in calibration, but comparing two phones with the same scale should give a good idea of a difference. It would make sense that aftermarket screens would be slightly heavier (making things smaller and lighter gets very expensive). Replaced batteries could also factor into the weight, but screens would probably be more likely to show a difference due to the electronics involved.

The stickers look light blue and dark blue in color (from your picture). Are we sure there are 3 colors? Wink

Edit: I threw away my box and can't remember which color it was.

No, I don't think anything is sure … it's all just throwing out ideas right now. I thought it looked purple, but those off shades of blue can be kind of hard to tell … partly why I posted a pic.

Not sure if the color of the dots theory holds water, cause I just looked at the 4 boxes that I have on hand and they are all dark blue, including the one with the DIM screen.

I have a XR Coral that I bought New in box from Simple Mobile and compared it side by side to my 3 "Good" XRs, the quality of the screens look near identical.

Other than the 1 DIM one I received, that one was obviously replaced along with the excess glue on the sides.

Out of 7 phones 4 were near flawless, 1 had a nick between the screen and body, 1 had excess adhesive around the body and on the speaker mesh, but good screen, and the last one was the worse lots of excess glue and dim screen.

So of the 3 I have on hand, compared to my new SM Coral XR the weights are:
206g Coral XR (simple mobile) new box, glass protector
205g XR from TW, glass protector
196g XR from TW, no glass protector, including protection film
196g XR from TW, no glass protector, including protection film

Mine are all similar in weight, don't feel like removing the glass protector to get the "bare" weight, but all my "Keepers" have the same near identical quality screen. Too bad I already traded in that DIM screen one, which would have been nice to know if the weight is significantly different.

I gave away 2 and traded in 2, I'm left with 3 that I activated and waiting to unlock.
