How do you check for drive information?
You can use Samsung's own software for ssd optimization and health analysis: Samsung Magician

Bought a 2TB 980 Pro from BB using this deal- box was used, but drive looks and functions like new. I checked it using Samsung Magician and it only had ~100GB written. Also the drive firmware was already fully updated. Def. recommend-especially for this high end model. The drive supports PCIE4, but if your mobo is not the latest (mine wasn't) you can't take advantage of it. Still, I figured I'd get the PCIE 4, and when I upgrade down the road (soon) my drive will take advantage of the faster bus.

"Geek Squad Certified" is such a worthless "guarantee".
My 75yr old grandma who can't figure out how to set the time on her microwave is more qualified to certify any electronics than any Geek Squad worker I've ever seen, and 3 of my friends work for Geek Squad for 2-3 years so I know exactly how incompetent they are!

Does anyone know if buying these refurbished still qualify them for Samsung's 5yr warranty coverage, or are you up s**t creek after 90 days if you have an issue?

Got a QVO from Amazon for $70 that can still be returned - swap it out for the EVO for $70? Enough of a difference to matter (casual use)?
Yes, the qvo sucks by comparison

Sometimes Geek Squad staff will grab a drive and use it to store/transfer data. These SSD are very lightly used and usually never leave the store. They gotta tag them as refurbished or open-box.

From my understanding, Samsung requires a proof of purchase. Even though you register the serial number on their site for the 5yr warranty, once they see the drive was purchased as a refurb if you do a warranty claim, they won't honor it.

Can someone explain to me when I run Samsung Magician on my 860 EVO SSD Sata 3, it shows Read 4623 MB/s and Write 3603 MB/s? I even ran CrystalDisk and got 4586 MB/s and 3487 MB/s. All my other SSD's show up as normal ~550 MB/s and my WD NVME gets 3357 and 3027...so weird???

Tempting but I don't have a need right now. Had good luck with a BB refurb in the past. Practically a new drive. YMMV.
Just got my 1tb……. And it is new literally

The 1TB 860 EVO SATA drive seems to be at a higher price compared to its updated version 870 EVO... interesting! Has anyone had experience with whether the 860 is better than the 870 by any means to justify the higher price (although they are refurbished)?😄
860's are not better than 870's, it's just that the 860's had older technology that cost more than the 870's. When 870's were brand new, they cost less than new 860's.

Bought an 870 EVO 1TB on the 7th, received today and CrystalDiskInfo shows 35GB write, less than 1 hour used, and 22 power ons. Not bad.
